Arrived 30 minutes before my friends and the staff did not rush us to order at all. Dinner salad with beets and watermelon and goat cheese and candied pecans was yummy. Berry pie for dessert was amazing. Booth was a bit small but overall it was a good place. Free parking in their lot next door.

$70 plus for four for a basic lunch is a little high. Food is good though and I am glad I had a Groupon which made it reasonable. Steak sandwich with fries was perfectly done. Good service also.

We came with a party of 6, we waited for over 20 minutes to order and about 35 minutes for our food to arrive. Our burgers were all overcooked but cold, the cheese didn't even melt. Our waitress never came back to check on us, and we had to flagged her down, she was upset. We weren't the only ones... More

Very friendly staff and manager who made sure our coffee was never less than half full. Got the two egg breakfast with toast, potatoes, and bacon. Very filling and brought out quickly.

They serve lovely breakfast, you can choose between many different food. I prefer a light breakfast so I chose the yoghurt with granola and fresh fruit. It was fresh and delicious. The only disadvantage was that it took quite long until our food arrived.

Went for a late breakfast. Old diner type restaurant - somehow cool place. My daughter Got the an omelet with ham, advocado, chees etc. She was very happy :0) I Got the breakfast burrito - didn't leav hungry. This was very good. The coffee was far better, than the normal diner coffee ! Would I go Here again? Yup ;0)

I had breakfast there. Everything was great, but isn't cheap. The retro decoration fits perfect the dinning room

We wandered into Mel's for a late night snack around 10 pm. Our waitress was very friendly and prompt. The food was good. It was the first time my teen boys had seen such an authentic feeling 50s style diner with a juke box on the table and celebrity pictures and autographs on the walls. We enjoyed it.

A nice little place decorated with nostalgia. Food was decent. Friendly service. Bathroom facilities were a little crowded.

Mel's Diner is an institution and worthy of being so. Ambience is awesome - just what you'd expect from a 50's style diner. We were shown quickly to our table, experienced staff took our order and we didn't have long to wait for our food. We could see into the kitchen - all scrupulously clean. The food was just what... Staying in Marina District

Neighborhood Profile
Marina District
Beautiful homes, beautiful people, and a beautiful backdrop of the Golden Gate Bridge welcome visitors to the Marina. Originally the location for the Panama-Pacific International Exposition in 1915 (whose remnants can be seen at the Palace of Fine Arts), much of the land was filled and flattened to accommodate a world’s fair. That ample space has given way to a jogger’s paradise at the northern edge of the city. With the picturesque bay setting as its backdrop, it’s no surprise that the area has hosted numerous movie productions. Daytime activities focus on café culture and boutique shopping, while the evenings turn this neighborhood into a party-going hotspot.
