A16 is one of my favs! I always try to eat here at least once when I come back into town. Their pizzas are amazing and they have a great wine selection of wines you probably have never heard of. One of my favorite pizza's is the funghi. SO GOOD!! They are always packed for dinner so get there early!... More

Love, love, love A-16. I make the pilgrimage each time I'm in San Francisco without fail. No two visits are the same. The menu changes with the season and reflects what can be locally sourced for the ultimate freshness. Excellent service, wonderful food and great wine list. You will not be disappointed.

The good: attentive service, excellent wine, side order of shaved root vegetables excellent, very good coffee and a scrumptious chocolate mousse dessert. The bad: extremely noisy, food busser dropped entire plate of squash on the table and in husbands lap (but manager very apologetic and comped dessert). My main course of calamarata had one small piece of octopus and way... More

Loved this restaurant - beautiful decor, extremely busy vibe (can get quite noisy) and nice service. Food was a little bit slow but pizza was amazing. By far the best pizza in San Francisco! Highly recommend!

The salads and wood fire pizzas are excellent and the service superb. Our server paired a great wine to our meal and made a number of good recommendations. We sat at the bar looking over the food prep area and the chef working the pizza oven was hilarious and engaged with us throughout the meal. We sat beside some regular... More

The food is nice and the place has some style. A bit expensive, but it's to be expected in SF... They offer pizza and pasta (and WiFi !), and the plates are rather generous.

We were visiting from the UK and this place certainly matches the best of its type in London. Great pizza (particularly according to the 12 year old boys) excellent fresh pasta, great burrata. Not haute cuisine but great flavors and accurate execution. Desserts were also widely applauded. Service was friendly, although on the slow side. This did not bother us.... More

A16 touts itself as an "Southern Italian" Restaurant and there was so little "Italian" except Pizza, I don't think that classifies as truly "Italian". We went to dinner early on a Sunday to miss the "crush and the noise", which was a good idea. A16 is not a fancy place, but certainly has "fancy prices" - $34 for a Pork... More

A16 is a restaurant and wine bar bringing the delicious and hospitable traditions of lively Campania to San Francisco. The chic, rustic/modernist venue is named after the motorway that transverses the South of Italy. The restaurant features wood oven-fired Neapolitan Pizza and other specialties of Campania such as Maccaronara with ragu napoletana and house-made ricotta salata. The wine bar serves 40 wines by the glass and half bottle carafe. The list is 60 percent Italian, mostly from the South, and the other 40 percent is New World, celebrating premiere Italian varietals grown in California along with many California wines.

Staying in Marina District

Neighborhood Profile
Marina District
Beautiful homes, beautiful people, and a beautiful backdrop of the Golden Gate Bridge welcome visitors to the Marina. Originally the location for the Panama-Pacific International Exposition in 1915 (whose remnants can be seen at the Palace of Fine Arts), much of the land was filled and flattened to accommodate a world’s fair. That ample space has given way to a jogger’s paradise at the northern edge of the city. With the picturesque bay setting as its backdrop, it’s no surprise that the area has hosted numerous movie productions. Daytime activities focus on café culture and boutique shopping, while the evenings turn this neighborhood into a party-going hotspot.
