So glad we came here rather than the rather sad place we were going to go to nearby. From the start all was great. They changed our table without a problem as the people next door were noisy despite the place being full and not...More

If you can’t read an Italian menu - be prepared to be snubbed and if you have questions be ready to be answered like you were stupid. This guy was young so maybe we will chalk it up to that. Maybe we also looked like...More

Over the years, we heard so many wonderful things about A16, but for some reason we never got around to trying it out until recently. We went for lunch with some friends to celebrate their son’s graduation. Service was good. But our poor wait staff...More

Had to leave our name and wait about an hour for our table, but it was well worth it. They gave us a very nice complimentary appetizer of meat and balsimic vinegar. It was to die for!!! We ordered a few pizzas to share. I...More

It’s an elevated pizza place- with inventive side dishes and a nice wine list. Busy for Mother’s Day, the staff was still friendly and patient to answer all our questions. Nice feature- you can order either small or large portions of salads (to share). This...More

Came here because the concierge at our hotel recommended it. The atmosphere was not bad. However, the food was nothing great. We love fresh italian food this was very average. Worse than the food and prices was the waiter. He missed different things with our...More

When I want good tasting, we’ll-crafted, Italian comfort food I head to A-16. I make it a point to visit every time I’m in San Francisco and have never been disappointed. My only disappointment is that I can’t eat more of their excellent food. The...More

This restaurant is a good pizza place. The cook and waiters are all Italian, and their thin crust pizza is quite good. All the ingredients are fresh and quite tasty. Especially the chili oil they offer. It goes super well with their crust and pizza!...More

Not crazy about this place. Noise is louder than moderate. Food was so so and pricey. They do take reservations. I gave the featured wine for the night only 3* on Vivino. The meatballs were good, but the side order of pinto beans was no...More

Marina District
Beautiful homes, beautiful people, and a beautiful
backdrop of the Golden Gate Bridge welcome visitors to
the Marina. Originally the location for the
Panama-Pacific International Exposition in 1915 (whose
remnants can be seen at the Palace of Fine Arts), much
of the land was filled and flattened to accommodate a
world’s fair. That ample space has given way to a
jogger’s paradise at the northern edge of the city.

There was at least one gluten free pasta I remember on the menu. But you will probably do best by calling the restaurant directly for any special dietary concerns.

A16 is a restaurant and wine bar bringing the delicious and hospitable traditions of lively Campania to San Francisco. The chic, rustic/modernist venue is named after the motorway that transverses the South of Italy. The restaurant features wood oven-fired Neapolitan Pizza and other specialties of Campania such as Maccaronara with ragu napoletana and house-made ricotta salata. The wine bar serves 40 wines by the glass and half bottle carafe. The list is 60 percent Italian, mostly from the South, and the other 40 percent is New World, celebrating premiere Italian varietals grown in California along with many California wines.
