Daughter recently moved into the neighborhood on Hyde and we wanted to try this place out on the corner. Got in at the opening, 5:30ish, and had a corner table with great views out into the neighborhood. Relatively small dining area but reminds me of Europe - so fitting. Ordered a bottle of Cava sparkling wine at their recommendation and... More

Zarzuela is a hidden gem in San Francisco. Food is amazing. We went on a Thursday night but the restaurants was packed. They don't take reservation and no valet parking. We drove around the blocks for over 40 mins to find parking. It's not easy in San Francisco especially in this area. The crab cake is stuffed with real crab... More

We focused on the tapas choices though note that there are is a full menu for more traditional entrée selections. The tapas dishes were a bit larger than the traditional small plates but still small enough so that multiple taps items can be enjoyed. The dishes were flavorful and seasonings well-balanced. The appetizers arrived quickly and were complemented by the... More

The food was excellent, the prices reasonable for the portion size; all dishes were prepared with the exact amount of condiments. Service is very attentive.

The food at Zarzuela is great as is the service. The prices are really reasonable, given the quality of the food. They do not take reservations so getting there early is best. It can get a bit noisy inside when it is crowded. The cable car stops right in front.

My wife and I visited 6 years ago the first time we were in San Francisco together. It was a great overall experience then so we decided to visit again this past week when we were back in San Francisco. I'm sure gakd we did! We had our 13 year old son with us who has a severe dairy allergy,... More

They do not take reservations, but do have waiting in a lower level. The service is spot on. When ordering wine, they will bring you tastes of bottles already open for by the glass. Prices are VERY REASONABLE. The three of us ordered almost everything on the menu and are planning to go back to try the Paella! Deserts are... More

Stepping off the infamous trams (PH) we saw the Lombard ‘crookedest’ Street then wondered along and picked Zarzuela for an early evening snack. What a good choice. Authentic in its sty;e and staff the food and wine were off great quality. We had a quiet corner and enjoyed choosing which of the ice range of tapas we would select. When... More

We ate here for dinner with our young child. It was child friendly enough. We came on a Tuesday evening right at 5:30 pm when they opened. There were already a few people there starting a line up. We ordered the lamb chops lollipops and it came with scalloped potatoes. Delicious! We also ordered the seafood paella for two. The... More

Staying in Russian Hill

Neighborhood Profile
Russian Hill
Russian Hill has evolved into a chic residential neighborhood with outstanding views from every corner. Combined with several great cafes, restaurants, antique shops and boutiques, it’s easy to see why any visitor would gladly leave their heart in San Francisco. Cars line up day after day to drive down Lombard Street, the “crookedest” street in the world, and make the slow creep downhill past charming period homes. Polk Street is the main drag in this neighborhood, where you will find trendy bars, cafes and shops populated with locals, but for one of the most charming rides in the city, grab a cable car heading up and down Hyde Street.
