My wife and I visited 6 years ago the first time we were in San Francisco together. It was a great overall experience then so we decided to visit again this past week when we were back in San Francisco. I'm sure gakd we did! We had our 13 year old son with us who has a severe dairy allergy,... More

They do not take reservations, but do have waiting in a lower level. The service is spot on. When ordering wine, they will bring you tastes of bottles already open for by the glass. Prices are VERY REASONABLE. The three of us ordered almost everything on the menu and are planning to go back to try the Paella! Deserts are... More

Stepping off the infamous trams (PH) we saw the Lombard ‘crookedest’ Street then wondered along and picked Zarzuela for an early evening snack. What a good choice. Authentic in its sty;e and staff the food and wine were off great quality. We had a quiet corner and enjoyed choosing which of the ice range of tapas we would select. When... More

We ate here for dinner with our young child. It was child friendly enough. We came on a Tuesday evening right at 5:30 pm when they opened. There were already a few people there starting a line up. We ordered the lamb chops lollipops and it came with scalloped potatoes. Delicious! We also ordered the seafood paella for two. The... More

We dined here as a family. The food is pretty authentic Spanish. The staff are warm, welcoming and attentive. The tapas appetisers are the real stars. The snails and grilled eggplant dishes were both sensational. The paella was good but not great. The sangria was too good.

What a wonderful place! Classic Spanish cuisine in a warm, hospitable atmosphere. Our waiter was so caring and professional. We felt taken care of and left well fed and happy. I heartily recommend.

Zarzuela was a delight! My family and I were vacationing in San Francisco and my daughter looked up this little Spanish restaurant. We got there early as it was opening for dinner and it's a good thing we did as it got very crowded later. It's a small place, but the service and food were excellent. We had dinner tapas... More

A great meal each visit to Sf, great prices but great food. No reservations so you must wait but well worth it. A bit noisy but no big deal as the food is wonderful. The Paella and Tapas are delicious

Neighborhood Profile
Russian Hill
Russian Hill has evolved into a chic residential neighborhood with outstanding views from every corner. Combined with several great cafes, restaurants, antique shops and boutiques, it’s easy to see why any visitor would gladly leave their heart in San Francisco. Cars line up day after day to drive down Lombard Street, the “crookedest” street in the world, and make the slow creep downhill past charming period homes. Polk Street is the main drag in this neighborhood, where you will find trendy bars, cafes and shops populated with locals, but for one of the most charming rides in the city, grab a cable car heading up and down Hyde Street.
