A warm summer's and a table on the street in the sun watching the world go by with a beer - marvellous. The staff were great and the restaurant looked good as did the food. Well worth a visit one evening or lunchtime for a tie to eat. The bar was well stocked so I suspect early evening cocktails could... More
Outstanding French cuisine, courteous personalized service, serene atmosphere in the Green Room. We have been coming to La Folie for birthdays and anniversaries for quite a few years now, and we have never been disappointed. It has both a tasting menu and a la carte items, with differential price depending on how many items are chosen. Four items for $120... More
Either I'm really picky, or maybe my palate is not as refined, but La Folie didn't live up to my expectations. I eat all types of cuisines, at expensive as well as cheap restaurants in SF and beyond, but each dish seemed to be lacking of something. -Wild Mushroom and Charred Leek Salad- pretty to look at, but difficult to... We ate here and it really was wonderful. If you're planning on doing the prix fixe with wine, just know it's a lot of wine!!!! The pour is generous and after several courses, more than I could do. But delightful and a wonderful experience. I hate to say it because it's politically incorrect, but the foie gras was one of... More
Everything was to perfection for our dinner. The atmosphere is relaxing and comfortable, the pace of the meal was easy and enjoyable, and the food and wine was fabulous. Highly recommend it.
Amazing french (fusion) food. I'm sure all the food is great here, but try the seasonal Chefs tasting menu. And don't get that without the wine pairing. Some of the best food & wine i've ever had. It ain't cheap, but it's worth it, at least for a special occasion.
I can not express how much I truly loved this place. Please go Do the 5 course meal. you will not regret it. I was blown away, every bite was a piece of heaven on earth.
Birthday dinner for two friends. Excellent service, outstanding dining. Lamb and duck main courses, lobster appetizer were highlights. We're halfway between 4 and 5 stars but I'm going with 5 because founder M. Pas sit was so gracious during an accidental post-dinner chat while waiting for valet to bring our car. Only negative parking. Valet is $15.
Really excellent cuisine and expensive. If you like foie gras, this place serves 'quarter pounders.' As expected, the service is professional, attentive, and friendly. Wine list is expensive as are corkage fees; some wines by the glass are more reasonable. The four course menu is very satisfying. We return once a year for a special occasion.
