OMG. BEST Prime Rib EVER! Ok...are you kidding me? What an incredible find! My husband and I spent a couple of days at The Mansion on Sutter (incredible by the way) and decided to walk to the bay! On our return trip we walked past...House of Prime Rib and decided to give it a try. We did not have reservations but we were blessed to be able to eat at the bar which was so much fun! Our waiter/bartender was on his 4th day of work and it seemed like he had been there for years! He bragged up the menu and everything he said was true and amazing! This establishment opened in the late 40’s and they have literally perfected EVERY dish they serve. We literally had everything they make from the prime rib to the creamed corn, spinach, Yorkshire pudding, delectable and perfectly baked baked potato, mashed potatoes and dare I say that the sourdough bread was even better than Boudin?!?!!! I topped that off with a glass of Riesling and we shared a piece of warm pecan pie ala mode. Needless to say I’m very glad we had to walk back to our hotel! Incredible. Truly. As COVID restrictions lift you are going to need reservations or wait (and wait) for dinner. If you love prime rib and nostalgic ambience...this is the place for you! Oh....the au jus! Thank you House of Prime Rib! We will be planning trips to SF just to dine with you! <3More

I have been here multiple times and I adore their prime rib with all of the sides (I sometimes fondly think of the sides more than the prime rib!). The fresh salad is made in front of you while you sit comfortably in banquette seating...that looks as if it is from an old Martin Scorsese film. There is more cheese and cream than spinach in the creamed spinach (and it is amazing!). The City Cut is more than enough meat for even those with a huge appetite. Dress up, or dress down in a T-shirt and jeans, The HOPR is a relaxing destination place for special occasions. Keep an eye out for a random SF 49er player.More

We did take out from House of Prime Rib this past weekend and it was excellent. This San Francisco institution has been around since 1949 and serves up some of the best prime rib in the country. During this pandemic and no indoor dining, for...some reason you cannot order over the phone or online and have to go to the restaurant to order and pick up in person. Parking is somewhat limited in this location so my wife drove and stayed with the car while I went in to place the order and get our food. I waited about around 12 minutes in line before accessing the restaurant to place our order. It was approximately 15 minutes before receiving our order. We ordered 2 House of Prime Rib cuts both with creamed spinach (cream corn is the other option). One cut was for a bottom end cut with a loaded bake potato and other cut was for a medium middle cut with mashed potato. All orders come with salad and a loaf of sour dough bread as well. House of Prime Rib did an excellent job with our order and nothing was missed and included all of the items you would get while dining at the restaurant including small containers for chives, bacon bits, sour cream and butter for the loaded baked potato as well as gravy for the mashed potato. They also provided 2 horseradish types for the prime rib. Another nice thing was that they gave you a whole bottle of their house salad dressing for the salad too. The food was still warm when we got home and tasted as good as eating at the restaurant. We enjoyed the meal and were happy to have them still open for take out. We have always loved House of Prime Rib and recommend it even for take out.More

This was by far the best prime rib I’ve ever had! Be sure to make reservations well in advance, this place is crazy busy.

There are few places that you can have a dining experience that is truly legendary. House of Prime Rib is such a place. The service is outstanding, the food and preparation is truly unique. The amazing prime rib dinners come complete with salad sides and...no hidden cost. The vegetarian option is AMAZING and if you're feeling more like fish, you'll definite be doing the Salmon dance with your entree arrives! This SF culinary gem is not to be missed!More

The institution in SF for bad beef quality! What a disappointment with this restaurant supposed to be very good for beef; a poor spectacle of the worse for everything; can’t even recognise the taste of beef; even the coffee was awful! The restaurant is huge...and was packed, can’t understand; to absolutely avoid!More

Didn’t know exactly what to expect. Decent address in Nob Hill but what a strange name for a restaurant. Well, no need to worry. This is classic steakhouse that only serves one cut of steak - Prime Rib. The service (table-side, of course) and offerings...reminded me of Lawry’s Prime Rib in Beverly Hills but this place had a great crowd (unlike sleepy Lawry’s). Every table filled (on a Wednesday) and a great feel to the place - with many different dining rooms (we asked for the main room). Everything from the cocktails at the bar (including a sidecar) to the sides with the meal were memorable. I ordered my steak a little undercooked and they immediately took care of it. Will definitely be back on my next trip to SF.More

Good, not great prime rib! Definite tourist attraction. Over priced, and average meat. Other chain steak houses have equal or better quality for half the price.

We used their valet parking. Seem to recall it was $15 plus a tip. Depending on where you are coming from might be cheaper than Uber
