Unfortunately, Le Zinc has closed after 15 years in Noe Valley. One of the owners, Diana Barrand, succumbed to cancer last year way too young. Her husband, Max, soldiered on for some time but increasingly his heart was no longer in it. We wish Max well in his next endeavour. All is not lost, however, for Noe Valley French food... More

Le Zinc Bistro has consistently been excellent for brunch where the prices have remained the same for over 4 years running. Probably the best coffee outside of Paris. The dungeness crab eggs benedict or the ground steak hache with bacon & fried egg have been my favorites. The service is friendly and amiable. Located at 4063 24th St. In Noe... More

I decided to visit Le Zinc, a French bistro on 24th Street in the Noe Valley, for Sunday Brunch. I confess that it was their health safety certificate, posted in the window, that caught my eye. This is the first time that I have noticed a local restaurant posting their certificate in the window along with their menu. The restaurant... More

This is one of our favorite neighborhood restaurants when we want a nice meal in a cozy atmosphere, where the noise level is low enough that we can carry on a conversation, and the menu includes several basic French items. This is the closest thing to a real French restaurant that I know of here in San Francisco. It's more... More

I really wanted to love this restaurant and was really looking forward to visiting. From the outside its very charming, but that's where it ends. Inside, the decor is very lacking in atmosphere and we were not made to feel very welcome. The whole place was empty apart from one waiter who made us feel like we were inconveniencing him.... More

Really refined and tasty food, the place is also pretty trendy rather than being pretentious. There is a lovely outside area, the kids were not out of place and found it really pleasant.

Visited today with a friend and loved the ambiance, food was great too. I'll be back, especially on a sunny weekend like today.

Friends took me to Le Zinc for lunch one weekday in June. I loved sitting on their tranquil and private tree-lined patio. We ordered from the prix fixe menu. From the limited choices, I ordered the red cabbage cream soup, the potato omelet with greens dressed in classic vinaigrette, and the coconut-lime sorbet for dessert. Five stars for the sorbet.... I really like coming here, the welcome is always warm, the setting is nice and comfortable, one can sit outdoors, and the service is friendly. The food rocks! Period! Great chow, so satisfying I always order too much! It can get hectic, especially in the evenings, I love lunching here. Enjoy!

We had an early dinner reservation at 5:30 and when we arrived we were the only guests. The waiter looked surprised to see us, but seated us (in uncomfortable chairs) and that was it. We had menus, but he did not return to the table. Instead, he sat in the front of the restaurant reading a book! We made an... More
