I cannot tell you how many times I have been here over the years but always have the most consistent service and oysters ever! It is a small place. One can sit at the bar but there are tables. Just realize during rushes you might be sitting outside on a bench staring in whilst starving Splurge and get the dozen... More

We ordered their oysters, oyster shooters, crab cake sandwich and a small order of ciappino. We had to take the crab cake sandwich and a portion of the ciappino to go! The staff was also amazingly wonderful! It was a bit expensive but definitely worth it.

Seafood for Americans is generally expensive. But for foreigners in the US - it is probably cheap, cheap, cheap - compared to what they pay for in their country. The seafood is very fresh. I just took a nibble of various items to avoid too high of an expense. Great for those who love seafood, but for Americans, I wouldn't... More

I visited this place in 2013... it stuck in my head so boldly that when I returned in 2016 I had to go back! Beware - there is typically going to be a long wait in the evening, but it's well worth it! The staff even brought out their famous garlic bread and samples of chowder for us to enjoy... More

Was across the street from this place having a beer when my wife asked the manager a good place to eat in The Castro. He immediately pointed across the street to Anchor, where a line was already forming at 5:30. He urged me to get over there fast and put my name on the board as it was a tiny... More

Queued for about 30 mins.. then got seated at the "bar".. I ordered the smaller ciopinno and the clam chowder.. Good thing I ordered only the cup clam chowder as the smaller ciopinno was not small at all.. it's huge for my portion... but it's all good food.. the seafood are fresh really tasteful.. Highly recommended.. Will definitely go back... More

The oysters were amazing! The sauteed shrimp was divine. The staff was great--one woman showed genuine concern for an older gentleman who was clearly a regular and trying to get a taxi. She went outside multiple times to make sure he was doing okay.

This experience never gets old. Anchor is an adorable little oyster bar in Castro with fresh seafood and great ambiance. I love to sit at the bar and have combo plates of whatever is on the menu that day. Sometimes you have to wait (because it's so small) but the little benches outside let you people watch while you do.... More

Just ate here again recently. This place is a real gem in a hugely foodie town. It's tiny, you'll likely have to wait in line (put your name on list), but worth it if you want really quality seafood in a non-pretentious casual atmosphere. The service is always great, they work their butts off so tip them well! But they... More
