Have been here many times in the past two decades. The seafood is always very good quality and prepared well. It is on the expensive side considering it is basically a diner with a cramped interior, but the quality of the food makes it worth it. Most main-course items are $18-$25 or so, depending on whether they contain fish as... More

Ok food, ok wine, friendly service and a nice setting. Only gave it 3/5 as I was quite poorly after with an upset stomach.

Cute and nautical themed, this little oyster bar is a perfect spot to slurp up a plate of oysters and some white wine. Great service but if you go at a busy time, there are very few seats so prepare to wait.

This is a special place. Deserves Landmark Status. The food is wonderful. The music is soft singable 60's; the staff is into it. Can't wait to return. This is the restaurant you will want to go to in heaven, if that's where you are going.

A business associate and I were meeting up in San Francisco by fluke and wanted a seafood restaurant to catch up at after the holidays. The Anchor Oyster Bar & Seafood Market was just the place. It was small, packed, noisy and wonderful! We both had amazing dishes (he the Sea Bass) and they treated me to a specially made... More

The Cioppino was the best I have ever had. Oysters were delicious. Two people in our party had Dungeness crab and they raved about the taste and presentation. Atmosphere fun & lively. A long wait for a table as the place is small but worth every minute.

The two of us went on a Saturday night at 830pm- as expected there was already a queue. Write your name on the board outside the door, find out from the waiter who is in charge of seating people that night as to the approximate wait time and then head across the road to the wine bar directly opposite for... The Anchor is small. It only seats about 20 people, so there is often a wait. The wine list is limited and the menu is not huge. What you do get here is traditional seafood of the very best quality served in (mostly) traditional ways. There is no California-fusion cooking going on here, this is the real thing. Somewhat pricey... More

Order their large bowl of Cioppino for about $60. It can feed up to 4 persons and comes with bread. You can even request garlic bread too! They give you lots of big pieces of crabs too and so good!! Their Cioppino broth was also delicious and just the right consistency and not too watery. Service was also fantastic!! Keep... More
