Here visiting my daughter and it's one of her favorites! The service was perfect and the food was too! I'm a pescetarian and ordered the pasta without duck. When the plate came, mine had duck. The waitress was soo very nice and gave us a dessert and took the meal of the bill without me saying anything. The place is... More

A wonderful place. The food was excellent: heavenly deviled eggs, tasty beet salad, world-famous meatloaf, a flavorful duck ravioli, and more than old-fashioned fried chick. This Blue Plate is more than Special. The ambience (see photo) reminds us of what SF used to be.

Your comment, "reminds us of what SF used to be," is especially appreciated. We like to think of ourselves as a neighborhood restaurant before all else and it's gratifying when someone visiting from out of town gets that vibe. Thank you for posting More

Small, cozy atmosphere with great service and spectacular food. This is a great find in the Bernal Heights neighborhood. Parking can be tough, but it is worth it. I came here with my friend last Saturday and we scored to split a few dishes. We started with a small plate - toasted farro and slow egg. This had slices of... More

Beautifully funky atmosphere that combines the best quality of Bay Area cuisine without the fussiness of a "fine dining" restaurant. It's the kind of place to take someone from out of town who says "I'd like to go to a quintessentially San Francisco place." Everything from starters to dessert was superb.

I did not know what to expect from Blue Plate. I was visiting San Francisco for the weekend and had not heard of it. What a treat!! It has a wonderful, cozy atmosphere and the food can't be beat. We enjoyed the deviled eggs, asparagus soup, pasta, pork (one of the specialties of the house) and fish. It was all... More

Come for the food, stay for the food. This is a spot worth visiting, The food is consistently very good. The menu has a few classics that stay while the rest changes up periodically. Sit in the restaurant with friends, the back patio for a feeling of seclusion, or at the counter to watch the magic happen. I'll recommend this... More

Small place in the mission/Bernal corridor. Cozy and tight space. A little noisy. The food on the other hand is spectacular. Dark meat fried chicken. Yum. Meatloaf with mashed potatoes. Yum. Desserts are great too. Highly recommend for the classic "homemade" dishes.

American Mission Comfort Food Done Right Oh my. Rocken good food tonight to celebrate my a pals bday. I hadn’t been to Blue Plate before – but it sure does comfort food with more twists than a slnky. The food could not be any better. They add just enough twists on old standards that instead of your first thought being... More
