An epicurian treat in a cultural setting . . .

This place may seem unconventional and unalluring from the exterior, but once inside, it's a whole different adventure. Very authentic food and atmosphere. The service may be slow, but the attendance by the owner is courteous and considerate. If you are in a hurry to be served, you are likely to... read more

Had a party of 40 to welcome a group from Shaolin Temple China. Most of the group are vegetarians, so we pre-ordered accordingly. The food was was just ok. We sat in their big room, which has sunken floors under the table's and pillow's for seat's. You have to remove your shoe's, which I like. The service was OK.

Because this restaurant was right around the corner from the air bnb apartment we rented in SF, and because our "landlord" recommended it, I decided to take my wife and nephew there for dinner. We enjoyed our dinner, which certainly met our expectations for food - better than average. Furthermore, we were pleasantly surprised by the decor and setting -... More

We had 2 apps (beef with sauce and corn cakes) and 3 entrees - a curry, pad thai and a special that was a crepe with pork, shrimp and coconut. All were very good (although I would have liked my food warmer in temperature). I enjoyed all the mung bean sprouts that gave contrast to the texture of the food. And... More

We rented an Air BnB in the area and ran across this place by accident. This place is awesome. You must remove your shoes to sit at the floor level tables with a sunken area for your legs. The woodwork in this place is incredible. Service was impeccable. The food was excellent but I thought the portions were on the... More

Very rich and unique ambience. Very polite staff. Take off shoes at entry and be ready to "sit down" and enjoy. Food is average for a Thai place. We ate a good Papaya salad and noodles. The beef kebab was chewy and overdone. Taste was good but meat was destroyed. Will definitely come back to e penitence this place again.

From the beautiful decor, to the menu, to the staff - this is as authentic Thai as it gets. As is usually the case when dining at ANY Asian cuisine restaurant, service was a bit spotty. But everything else made for a GREAT dining experience. NOTE: There are NO Domestic beers available.

Yum!! A cool spot with beautiful Thai decor and even better food. The service was polite, attentive, and quick. The pad thai was perfection!

This is an excellent restaurant with delicious sauces and varied options. The food is not doctored for American palettes. The service is also good. We were there for lunch, which was very reasonably priced! They have seating on the floor with room to drop your legs down under the table (into a hole in the floor). I preferred to sit... More

Twenty years ago Khan Toke was the hottest Thai restaurant in town. We probably hadn't been back in ten years. Sadly the years have not been kind to Khan Toke. No surprise. Few places can stay on the hot edge for that long. It's not that Khan Toke is bad. It's just uninspired. Has the kitchen lost a step or... More
