Every time I am in the area, this place is always busy. For whatever reason the wait wasn't terrible this time so we decided to try it out. We ordered the tea leaf salad, platha and dip, sesame beef, and garlic noodles with duck. Every dish was very tasty except I didn't really care for the garlic noodles. I would... More

I came here way before it became popular. It used to be a neighborhood joint and now it is a thing. But that's okay. The eats are slamming.

I don't know from Burmese food, but I liked everything we ordered. The crispy beef was really good. Yeah it's packed and the servers are rushed and it takes a while to get in. We hung at a nearby bar during most of the wait-time.

Our first visit was given a three-hour wait, so we tried again a week later and timed it right so we were immediately seated. We've gone around 4:45 to stand in line for the 5:00 opening and were able to get a table. Our favorites are the tea leaf salad, vegetarian samusa soup (love!) and coconut rice. We haven't tried... We wanted to go to their sister restaurant Mandalay but it was closed that day and the staff recommended Burma Star which was down the street and made reservation which had 30 minute wait. Burma star is a small size restaurant with it seems a dedicated clientele.Dark wood interior and good ambiance. Service is quick and efficient and staff is... More

We only had a chance to choose one restaurant in San Francisco while visiting and I was very glad I chose Burma Superstar. I got the Mint Chicken and it was very spicy which I love. This was the best of the two dishes we got. Wonderful flavor! I was a bit worried about the description of minced chicken but... More

Always have a great meal with Good service here. This is one of our regular spots. The food is fresh and well prepared. You get dishes here you don't see elsewhere.

The dishes explode in unusual flavour and texture. You would never imagine that Burmese cuisine could taste this delicious, much more scrumptious than at any present restaurant in Myanmar. This is like China and Vietnam in the 90's - when these countries just opened up after decades of lackings and people had forgotten how to cook well; then Vietnamese food... More

We had spicy Shan Noodles with chicken, tea leaf salad, and chicken with mango. The tea leaf salad had a lot of things in it, like dried shrimp, etc. It was unique, and we loved it! Definitely try it! The Shan noodles were hot and spicy, but not so much that I couldn't eat it. Would order it again. The... More

Located in the Richmond District amid many other ethnic restaurants, you will find Burma Superstar typically has a line stretching down the block! It is for good reason! Get here early (or be prepared to wait 30-45 mins) for a table in the packed dining room. This restaurant also offers a communal table if you wish to share with other... More
