We had spicy Shan Noodles with chicken, tea leaf salad, and chicken with mango. The tea leaf salad had a lot of things in it, like dried shrimp, etc. It was unique, and we loved it! Definitely try it! The Shan noodles were hot and spicy, but not so much that I couldn't eat it. Would order it again. The... More

Located in the Richmond District amid many other ethnic restaurants, you will find Burma Superstar typically has a line stretching down the block! It is for good reason! Get here early (or be prepared to wait 30-45 mins) for a table in the packed dining room. This restaurant also offers a communal table if you wish to share with other... More

Delicious authentic Burmese food served in a cramped space. A 45-60 minutes wait can be expected and Burma Superstar doesn't take reservations. The tea leaf salad is superb!

Read a lot about this place and since me and my family and had not experienced Burmese food before, we gave it a try for lunch. What a treat! We started with the green tea salad as it was a much lauded dish in prior reviews. Not disappointed. Semusas appetizers were also outstanding as were the curry and basil dishes... More

We went to this restaurant on a week night, not crowded , lots of seating available. The reception is kind of rude , when asked for a corner table. The food portions are ok but not much if you are sharing. The price is over the top. The ambiance is nice for any evening dinner but total space is too... More

Burma Superstar has been on the SF radar for more than a decade now and is therefore no longer on the cutting edge. For newbies to Burmese cuisine, it will seem very exotic. For sophisticated foodies, it has been down-graded to appeal to those newbies and may seem too generic. Certainly, it is no longer worth the excruciating wait times... More

Love this place although so does everyone else around San Francisco. Come early or else get in line for a good long wait. But its worth it! Terrific food, original and healthy, asian style.

Burma Superstar wasn't where we were headed but it was recommended by a local, so we went. Glad we did. Fresh food, prepared well and served quickly. The food was different from any other I've had to date. Asian, certainly, but different combinations, different flavors...all just great. Highly recommend the Green Tea Salad and the Nan Gyi Dok noodles (my... More

If you are visiting Alameda, don't miss this spot. The food is excellent and quite a few unique items on the menu. The Tea Leaf Salad is a must! A bit spicy, but wonderful flavor and texture. A couple of our favorite items: Sesame Beef, Walnut Shrimp, Sesame Tofu & Mango Chicken. They're always busy, but you can wander in... More

First experience with Burmese food. Recommended by a friend whose cousin lives in SF. Food was amazing, service was great. Left eating more food than I normally do because I just could not stop myself from eating every last bit. Ate three dishes (well my portion of...) and each was a delight. Highly recommended!
