I live in the neighborhood and had never been here until tonight. I went with some friends and had a nice time. The food was delicious especially the garlic nann and the chicken samosas. The appetizers came pretty fast but the main dished took longer than expected. The service was good but they could have used more workers as we... More

The food is good but the preparation has little strong spices which subdue the essence of the vegetable. Bharta was good and so was the rajma chole ki daal.

The food here is delicious and very reasonably priced. It helps to have a reservation on night when fitting dinner in before a show (it's in the performing arts district: ballet, opera, symphony, etc.) Definitely go with a group so you can share and explore more of the menu. I love the fabrics on the walls and upholstery - a... More

This is the best Indian restaurant. I wish I lived in San Francisco because I would go all the time! Fresh and flavorful food. My colleagues and I ordered a bunch of dishes and all of them were spot on. Really nice staff and service too!!!

The place had a lot of promise with interesting options on the menu but it just didn't deliver on the promise. The tandoori chicken was the only decent thing but it had too many onions. The paneer appetizer was absolutely disgusting. The tandoori platter we ate was really dry and tasted old. The only thing good here were the naans... More

As San Francisco Opera patrons we generally use a visit to the theater as an excuse to eat out, and this can be fun in the 'Hayes Valley' neighborhood surrounding the opera house, but after a while the ridiculous prices, long waits and difficulty in scoring timely reservations get pretty tiresome, and one searches further afield. Crossing over to the... More

This place is a favorite of mine. Everything they serve is delicious. The lunch buffet is even great and I'm not a buffet person.

Awesome indian food. Tried 2 or 3 indian restaurants in SFO but this once seems to be the best. This was recommended by our hotel owners who were also Indians ,so they know the best. We tried the paneer till , garlic cheese naan, butter kulcha , onion salad here. All the dishes were yumm and hot. The additional plus... More

Stumbled across this place on a visit to San Fran last year and it was the best surprise! Probably the most delicious Indian food I've ever had, and the staff was friendly and welcoming. It was so good we came back to get seconds on our way to the airport. I make it a point to eat here every time... More

Mela Tandoori Kitchen is San Francisco's premier Indian and Pakistani restaurant. Here at Mela, we offer the most exquisite assortment of Indian and Pakistani dishes in the Bay Area. With an extensive menu, serving only Halal and Zabihah meats, a brilliantly designed decor with a beautiful ambiance and silk sarees, candles and wall tapestries, we have more to offer than just great food and a cool vibe. We have perfected the most memorable experience in Indian and Pakistani dining! For starters, may we recommend some spicy tandoori wings, or perhaps the milder chicken or vegetable samosas? Better yet, how about the tandoori paneer, a vegetarian delight? The menu is filled with selections to please each individual taste bud and the seasoned veteran of Indian/Pakistani dining.
