Some people may say this place has character but I say it lacks it. The location is okay but the restaurant needs some TLC. Ordered scrambled eggs with bacon but they were cold and not good. My husband had the burrito and it was ok. Didn't feel like the staff were bothered one way or the other, It was very... More

Standing in line for over an hour in what definitely isn't San Francisco's best neighborhood made the breakfast taste even better. This is a very popular place with a lot of tradition and no matter how early you think you need to show up in order to miss the line - you have to show up earlier. The food was... More

Very good meal excellent baked goods and coffee. We arrived at about 10:40 on a Saturday morning. Didn't get in until 12:15. Even rain and a chilly overcast sky didn't thin the line.

My friend and I have tried to get into Dottie's for Sunday brunch through several trips to the nearby Golden Gate Theater. Yesterday's rainfall shortened the line outside and we got in. What can I say? Service: excellent. Food: excellent. Lamb sausage and goat cheese omelet with homemade buttermilk dill bread. Whiskey-fennel sausage scramble. Great coffee and mimosas. The building... More

The way the chef talks to the other staff is not acceptable. No one should talk to another human being that way. The food was ok, although I am gluten intolerant so perhaps did not get the best side of the famous Dotties. The service was great but I wouldn't go back.

We waited in line for 20 minutes, but a local assured us it was well worth the wait. He was right! The menu combinations are interesting, but surprisingly delicious. The fritatta was huge, hot and made my mouth very happy!

You know how it is, you normally land up in regular touristy restaurants. But when you have elder kids travelling with you, they come up with the non-touristy places. Dotties was one of them. It was off market street, in the greater union square area. We reached the place at 7.30 AM for breakfast and got a place to sit.... More

We arrived on a Friday morning at about 10:30am... we waited about 45 minutes on line for a table. The area is sketchy. I questioned whether it was worth standing in line that long with three kids. Time passed quickly while playing heads up on our phones. And the wait was definitely worth it for the blueberry crumb cake alone.... More

Excellent breakfast with many unique items - but be prepared to wait on line - was there twice and waited close to one hour each time - food was excellent but honestly the coffee should have been better

Staying in SoMa

Neighborhood Profile
South of Market (SoMa), has an urban and sophisticated vibe, but you're more likely to find big nightclubs and lots of industrial loft residences than you are to find boutique shopping. Although it’s the epicenter for tech startups in the city, visitors will be able to do more than just business - museums, top quality restaurants, and the San Francisco Giants now call this neighborhood home. Most of its freeway-sized streets may not capture the same character as other neighborhoods in the city, but pockets of charm, like South Park, can still be found throughout its side streets.
