I would've given this place a higher rating, but I was disappointed with the lamb I ordered. I was expecting it to be tender, but it ended up being dry and tough. However, my hubby's chicken entree was amazing and the garlic dip was incredible.

First time here. Very casual and laid back. Had the garlic appetizer. It was good. The garlic chicken was awesome. More garlic on the plate - maybe too much? You could order this again and again. We also had the seabass with garlic lemon caper sauce. It was delicious. Cooked perfectly! The creamed spinach was amazing, and you get a... More

We LOVED our food until we got the bill. We had 3 kids and thought we were ordering kid-sized portions (with kid-sized costs) and it was a fortune. The food was superb but I wouldn't recommend it if you have kids and are on a budget.

So good! But name is appropriate - if you do not like a lot of garlic you may want to reconsider, but don't! It is the best!

We had the prime rib. Asked for medium rare and that is exactly what we got. Roast beef cooked perfectly and loaded with garlic. Exactly the way, in my opinion, prime rib should be cooked. The creamed spinach and mashed potatoes are the perfect compliment. We also had a liter of the house red wine and it was a great... More

My wife and I ate here last week and she hasn't stopped talking about this place. She loves garlic and this was her Xanadu. The appetizer where you spread the garlic on the bread was appealing. I ordered the steak and she ordered the 40 clove garlic chicken. Her dish was much better. There wasn't anything wrong with my steak.... More

Brought some new friends to this restaurant because in my mind it is a little like a SF institution. It is not the best Italian but it certainly is the most unique. Start with the Bagna Cuoda which is slow roasted garlic and it melts literally on your bread. Get a pasta or pizza if you wish but I would... More

Neighborhood Profile
Chinatown
As the oldest in North America, San Francisco's Chinatown is an exotic experience. A unique neighborhood decorated with colorful shops, historic streetlights, hanging lanterns, and pagoda roofs awaits behind the stone-carved dragon gates. Feast on dim sum at the tea houses, or meet the locals who gather at historic Portsmouth Square to play chess or practice Tai Chi. Fish markets, produce stands, tourist shops, jewelry stores, fortune tellers, temples and restaurants come together to create a world unto itself in this historic neighborhood.
