We visited the Tonga Room after dinner. It was a great time with people of all ages dancing, enjoying a boat drink and having a fun time. The band plays from a barge in the middle of the pool and the tiki bar theme was...More

Ahhhh the Tonga Room....A San Francisco landmark and for good reason! It’s changed very little over the years so coming here makes for a reminiscent and memorable experience. I’ve been in for dinner before and can’t really say the food is amazing, it’s the tropical...More

Was a bit difficult to find, so I walked into the lobby and asked. Impressive hotel it's housed in. The Tonga Room itself is very 1980's Tiki re-imagining. Had a blast drinking Mai Tais and making friends with strangers. Would definitely return!

The Tonga Room is a hoot! It's like waltzing back into the 1930s to 1950s and height of night club life. The main attraction is the lagoon in the cocktail lounge with its floating bamboo bandstand. The highlights are the thunderstorms with accompanying rain pelting...More

Came to celebrate a birthday, fun food and drinks in a setting unlike any other. If you look closely, you'll see traces of the 1930's pool decor amongst the Polynesian decor. Such great service, upbeat and warm, delicious food, and a great evening.

I’m am so confused after our evening at Tonga! Everything about this place wreaks “out of date Disney” and we can’t for the life of us work out the appeal of this kitsch, tacky and outdated place. We are from New Zealand, close to Tonga,...More

Swanky and stylish, Nob Hill sits in the heart of the
city and is home to amazing architecture and views.
The hike to the top can be a challenging workout for
those who forego a cable car ride, but they will be
rewarded with some of the city’s most beautiful
architecture adorning its peak. Originally populated
with mansions after the Gold Rush, most if not all
were devastated in the 1906 earthquake and fire that

No I would not choose this location for her amazing celebration. It is fun but no way formal and the band is fun but again maybe not for this occasion. Good luck and the happiest of birthday to your mom!
