First visited Café Bastille as a precursor to a trip to Paris. Just returned from my second trip to Paris and wanted to say I wished for Café Bastille while in Paris! Don't get me wrong, there are sooo many great restaurants in Paris...but Moules are apparently seasonal in their menu options. We were last there in March and Moules... More

I was here for dinner on a business trip with a large group. As we walked down what seemed to be an alley, I was transported (in my mind) to a street in Europe, with sidewalk cafes and hostesses begging you to dine at their restaurant. (Not in a bad way!) We ate dinner inside - and despite being a... More

Fantastic menu. Very French and unpretentious but fabulous presentation. We love the French food like my grandmere used to make. We have loved the lamb shanks-delicious and the moules are perfect. The salad frisee with lardon and egg are to meditate quietly about.

This Belden Place Restaurant is closeted in with half dozen other eating establishments that provide for many choices for the selective palate. We selected to dine el fresco at lunch and made the time into a very pleasant first time experience. ( Note that they have canvas roofs and gas heaters for the unique San Francisco weather ) We each... More

Brought 2 customers here for lunch this week. This restaurant in located on a really quaint alley with a bunch of restaurants. The locale makes me feel like I am in Europe. It is walking distance to BART, but I was driving as I had other appointments that day. Parking nearby is super expensive ($33.50 for 2 hours). The service... More

We went for Sunday brunch. It was nice outside on the covered patio, but a bit noisy; so we opted for inside. We were early at noon, so had our choice of seats (the place did get more customers as time went on). We enjoyed warm bread & butter while we waited for our orders. I really enjoyed the bottomless... First time we tried this little french bistro in the financial district. And it will not be the last. The moulles were fantastic and my grilled vegetables amazing. It was a little chilly so we sat inside where it's ridicuously cute and cozy! We'll be back soon -

We had a Groupon for the Prix Fixe. It was OK, but quasi-French. The onion soup was rather bland, although the bread and cheese gratinée improved it. The boeuf bourguignon was average. The potatoes and carrots were added after the beef was done, which helped keep them from overcooking. Dining companion had chicken tagine, pretty good. The prix fixe dessert was... More

Maybe it's to be expected at a French restaurant, but the waiter was somewhat rude (maybe it's because we also had a groupon). He came back to take our order, but we had a few questions about some dishes, so he left and said he'd come back later, even though we were ready to order. When he did come back,... More

Location: The best thing is to sit outside in a pedestrian zone. The Belden Place is a small street with 5 restaurants. Food: Don´t expect real french food. If you like to start an food experiment - please try. But if you like to have a good dinner with tasty food take another restaurant. Even the recommended californian white wine... More

Staying in Financial District

Neighborhood Profile
Financial District
The Financial District lies just east of Chinatown but can seem a world apart given it’s San Francisco’s version of Wall Street. The rush of business people make up a hectic weekday and add to a frenetic pace of life, but visitors who spend a few hours walking the narrow streets will be rewarded with fine examples of historic and contemporary architecture, including the iconic Transamerica Pyramid. After business hours, bars and restaurants quickly fill up with happy hour revelers. Stocks aren’t the only kind of market being followed, the Ferry Building Marketplace on the Embarcadero is a gourmet food emporium and farmers market that will satisfy anyone working up an appetite.
