Loved this cafe restaurant. We had a drink at the bar on our first visit. Liked the vibe and booked a table for the next evening. It's San Francisco's attempt at French - bit weird but fun anyway. Bar lovely and all staff very attentive and friendly. Good choice of drinks and wine. Food lovely - try the pates and... More

Lunch for 4, outside in the alley. Heaters worked well. Service was friendly. Goat cheese salad was great (chicken added was great!). Quiche was fine, nothing too special, but good. Both the croque monsieur and the croque madame were fantastic. Fries were delicious. Will go back. $100 for 4 for lunch, no drinks.

We enjoyed the restaurant. I had the Onion Soup and Swordfish. The fish was spectacular. My sons had the duck and chicken and said it was great. Wine list is expensive.

I had not visited Cafe Claude for several years, but was overnight in SF so I decided to check back in for a Saturday night dinner. Arrived on time and was promptly seated. The waiter was friendly and knowledgeable and we asked him to select 3 cheese for the appetizer plate. Soon thereafter he was back and his selection was... More

My girlfriend, daughter and her boyfriend and I tried this restaurant because a band that I follow emailed me that they would be playing there. In general, the service was good. We ordered 4 entrees. No alcohol and no desert. My beef Burgandy was served on pasta. The chunks of "beef" were almost entirely chunks of fat. I expected a... More

A third visit to Cafe Claude, this after several years. Small, intimate but comfortable bistro. Excellent mussel appetizer, daube de boeuf dry and somewhat tasteless, trout buried in way to many green beans, wine list extensive but expensive; how about a reasonably priced house wine? Good background live entertainment. However, we will likely return.

Dropped in hoping to catch a jazz night (but unlucky cos it was Sunday). Service was authentic french but friendly. Menu is a bit sparse and I found the wine expensive. But I enjoyed my visit

We had dinner at Café Claude the other night. It was our Anniversary, and Café Claude made it a memorable, wonderful evening for us. Service was exceptional and we were given a great table over in the front corner. The atmosphere was very romantic, and the place was busy but not loud....it was easy to carry on a conversation, and... More

We ate at Cafe Claude again last night ! We were last there in April of 2016. We had a leisurely, romantic, dinner (she had the Salade Maison and Poulet Rôti , I had the Salade de Chèvre Chaud and the Steak Frites). The cocktails were great ("le Verger" & "Solace"), and the wine (A 2012 Chateau Paviel De Luze... More

Tucked away in a side alley, Café Claude is where we found to have a beautiful Christmas Eve family dinner. We enjoyed perfectly cooked steak frites, along with delicious wine and mocktails for the kids. You have to look to find it -- and it is worth the hunt. Nice service, intimate seating, live jazz on the nice we visited... More

Description
Affectionately known as the "Paris of the West," Cafe Claude is a San Francisco institution. Situated on one of the city's hidden alleys, Claude Lane, Cafe Claude offers a taste of France, with classic bistro dishes at lunch and dinner, a full bar, and an affordable wine list. On warm days, linger on the patio and enjoy a rare dose of sunshine, or a warming bowl of onion soup or coq au vin inside. On weekends, the restaurant comes alive with live jazz from 7 to 10pm, Thursday through Saturdays.
