Cute bistro with outdoor seating! The food is great! Order the steak tar tar with double quail egg - melts in your mouth. Enjoy!

We come up to San Francisco once a year from LA and seek out venues where we can listen to jazz and have a nice cocktail. Cafe Claude, tucked away in one of the alleys not far from Union Square, is now our must-visit spot. The atmosphere is so romantic! The jazz was really good. And our server Robert was... More

Lovely little place in an alley, ideal for bistro dishes, excellent bread, nice wine. The staff is pleasant and friendly.

Business dinner after a long day. I ate salad and found it good if a bit oily. But, it was Kale Caesar so maybe to be expected. Others had salad and main courses and seemed to enjoy them. The waiters are attentive but not intrusive. Wine list is very good.

We're glad to hear the food was excellent and the feedback on our staff. We appreciate the feedback on the cramped space and Kale Caesar. Hope to see you again soon! More

A true find, hidden away. Close your eyes, listen to Piaf and then live jazz and imagine yourself in France's capital. Escargots en Croûte, foie gras, Trout Amandine, confit de Canard and assiettes de trois fromage. Délicieuse and not to be missed. As oft-travellers to France and lovers of French cuisine, we were delighted to experience genuine Parisienne fare and... More

An evening warm enough to sit outside, although they do have heat lamps and created a lovely ambiance imagining sitting on the streets of Paris. The food was quite good (crispy duck with lentils and salad was hot and the flavors all went together, and the same can be said for the coq coq vin). Also enjoyed the pate starter... More

We were quite pleased with our dining experience here: a quaint interior reminiscent of a Parisian brasserie, nice live music, outstanding service, excellent food. Cafe Claude gets it right. C'est si bon.

The menu is limited, which shows, that the cook knows what he/she is doing. The typical french dishes are prepare well, the foi gras poelèe very good. The choice wines offered by the glass is unfortunately very limited and the wines are mostly mediocre. Service was friendly and competent. Our issue with the wine served was resolved amiable.

In town for the night and this place was recommended, it was a little hard to find but well worth it. Nice wine selection and fresh bread to start. We had the mussels, the flavor was amazing. The meal was cooked perfectly, very tender. We finished up the night with the cream brûlée, it was creamy and a nice finish... More

Cafe Claud is one of my favorite French restaurants in San Francisco. The steak tartar is amazing, made traditional and perfect! The Coq Au Vin is super yummy and the broth is heavenly. Love the bread and got cheese salad. Wine menu is decent but not spectacular. They usually have a good champagne. All in all very good.

Affectionately known as the "Paris of the West," Cafe Claude is a San Francisco institution. Situated on one of the city's hidden alleys, Claude Lane, Cafe Claude offers a taste of France, with classic bistro dishes at lunch and dinner, a full bar, and an affordable wine list. On warm days, linger on the patio and enjoy a rare dose of sunshine, or a warming bowl of onion soup or coq au vin inside. On weekends, the restaurant comes alive with live jazz from 7 to 10pm, Thursday through Saturdays.
