I ate here solo, and I wasn't sure if I should sit at the regular bar or the sushi bar. I am glad that I picked the sushi bar. there is nice atmosphere, great sushi and friendly wait staff. There is also a wide selection of saki. It helps if you are on an expense account.

Omakase is the way to go if you can afford it. The sashimi and rolls were superb. The subtle flavours of herbs and seasoning were fantastic. It was a very enjoyable dinner

Very good sushi, close to the Embarcadero in the financial district. Somewhat associated, or at least physically connected to, The Harbor Court Hotel where we stay as occasional visitors to SF. Very good service and very decent prices. A good view of the bay from one side of the restaurant. Naturally enough the décor is Japanese, simple and clean solid... More

We did some research before heading to San Fran and made a reservation in Ozumo based on other reviews. I have to say it was one the the most disappointing experiences I've had. We were quickly seated at our table but that's where the good service ended. Our table was directly under a harsh spotlight when we asked to move... More

We visited for a business dinner, and thoroughly enjoyed the sushi and rolls. Starting with the garlic edamame, we then had both sashimi of several sorts, as well as the three different rolls. Our favorites were the Shacho and I think the Sekiwake. As other reviewers have noted, the presentation is fantastic, and I also found the flavors and freshness... More

We knew the place would be pricey, and we were prepared for a costly bill. But $85 on sake tasting for three adults, and $42 for a filet that covered about half of a salad-sized plate, was a little much. Three adults = $250. Wait staff and sushi bar chef were great though!

I'm a little surprised by some of the other recent reviews as of late! The meal I had here at Ozumo was absolutely amazing! The restaurant looks great and has some great night life at the bar. The service was also spot on! The chef was really busy that night, so the omakase wasn't available. Our waiter though, told us... More

A group of 6 from work (5 of us from out of town) ate here and it was fine, but not sure what all the hype was about. The ambience and food presentation were great. The cocktails were pretty but just ok. Overall we all felt that the food was awesome to look at, but didn't match in flavor.

Disappointing experience... The quality of the fish was horrible. The tartare seemed grocery store grade and the spider roll was inedible.

Good, but not special. Was expecting better. They said they had great saki but didn't try it. Was relatively quiet which was a plus.

Staying in SoMa

Neighborhood Profile
SoMa
South of Market (SoMa), has an urban and sophisticated vibe, but you're more likely to find big nightclubs and lots of industrial loft residences than you are to find boutique shopping. Although it’s the epicenter for tech startups in the city, visitors will be able to do more than just business - museums, top quality restaurants, and the San Francisco Giants now call this neighborhood home. Most of its freeway-sized streets may not capture the same character as other neighborhoods in the city, but pockets of charm, like South Park, can still be found throughout its side streets.
