Enjoyed a later supper here served by friendly staff and the food was excellent and hot! Which made all the difference, a lot of restaurants in the city seem to server Luke warm.

Kind of disappointed. Waited in a cold weather for almost an hour and finally got a seat. It would be nice if the bread is warm and the butter is creamy. But the bread and butter were hard and was not appetizing. Service was alright, the only friendly smile we got was from the girl who came and asked us... More

zaneMy wife and I ate here twice in the last two days. Both meals were fabulous! The first night we had the Melanzane (baby greens, roasted eggplant, roasted tomato, feta),as an appetizer. Spaghetti alla Carbonara( romana cream sauce w/pancetta, egg, garlic). Linguine alla vongole (baby clams, white wine, lemon, garlic). Everything was fabulous!! The second time, we shared the antipasti for... More

We wandered into this place after services at Grace Cathedral as it is a block away. Very nice people. Friendly neighborhood ambiance but not elegant. Caesar salad was OK button great, spicy tomato pasta was excellent. With a glass of wine each we had a great meal.

Great atmosphere. You feel like you are part of the neighborhood. Pizza and Lasagna were outstanding. Definitely one of those places we will talk about.

Searched Trip Advisor for Italian restaurants, settled on this one based on reviews. Called for a reservation and found they don't do them, little concerned as it was a 20 minute walk from the hotel. Deciding on Nob Hill Cafe was a great decision, it surpassed both of our expectations. Had to wait 10 or 15 minutes, not a problem... More

We come here everytime we visit San Fran and love it. The atmosphere is terrific and the staff so friendly. The lasagne is a must have. The bruschetta, delicious. The calzone can be passed on. The red from Multipulciano was great. And the tirimasu is off the charts.

We had another amazing couple of meals when we were at The Fairmont, An easy two block walk and the food was as magnificent as always. We had a two year old in tow, and our waitress (and several other staff) could not have been more attentive and accommodating. Lasagna and pizza are to die for, and lots of vegetarian... More

Trying to avoid jetlag after 11 hours on transatlantic plane we walked the steep streets of SF, looking for a place to eat. Our first meal i San Francisco was a success at Nob Hill Cafe. Our party of five had risotto, carbonara and calzone, all of them very tasty and rich. Huge portions.

A friend of mine recommended I try Knob Hill Café and I am so thankful I took her advice. It's a very small restaurant in the middle of a quiet street. I was by myself on this visit and had a cozy table at the window for lunch. I ordered one of the pastas and I'm already ready to go... More

Staying in Nob Hill

Neighborhood Profile
Nob Hill
Swanky and stylish, Nob Hill sits in the heart of the city and is home to amazing architecture and views. The hike to the top can be a challenging workout for those who forego a cable car ride, but they will be rewarded with some of the city’s most beautiful architecture adorning its peak. Originally populated with mansions after the Gold Rush, most if not all were devastated in the 1906 earthquake and fire that followed. Luckily all is not lost; storied hotels and Grace Cathedral surround Huntington Park. Having a drink or dinner while taking in the sunset and views at the "top of the Mark" is tough to beat.
