We had the Petrale sole twice.First one was bigger and could fill 2 persons and much juicier and better cooked. It was so good that we ordered another one 2 nights later but that was too small for two persons.

4 of us dined and shared--everything from the crab cocktail, to fried platter was fresh and delicious--great service.

We found this place in the Sir Francis Drake Hotel, after arriving from the East Coast for vacation. We had to wait for the kitchen to open for dinner, but it was so worth it! Scala's has an incentive menu - this isn't your typical Italian restaurant! We ordered a variety of salads - Caesar, heirloom tomato caprese and arugula... More

We started with drinks. Adrian in the bar make the best drinks and provides the best service. Followed the drinks with the ravioli (1/2 and 1/2) and my husband had one of their signature salads. Scalas is pricey but always good.

I was at this restaurant for dinner to celebrate the wedding anniversary . A very funny waiter followed us from the beginning to the end of dinner with extreme kindness and given the opportunity of suggestions depth of dishes and wines offering tastings and an extra glass. We opted for three different appetizers and a second in order to taste... More

We ventured into this restaurant for lunch at our hotels recommendation. It felt as if we were inconveniencing the wait staff to be in this restaurant. Our waiter was rude, and spent more time at the front chatting with the other waiters and the host than checking on our food or us. I had the steak panini, which after I... More

We stayed at the Sir Francis Drake, adjacent to the restaurant, and had breakfast here just before we checked out. The decor is gorgeous, and the food is delicious. Portions were quite large.

We had a business dinner here with a few people. The table was a little small and seemed crammed. Always felt like we had to move in our chairs so waiters could get past. The appetizers and cocktails were wonderful! Our waiter was patient and attentive. Our main courses were just okay. It was my first time ordering Halibut. It... More

Fine place, with a touch of Art Decò and many details that make it an up to date restaurant. Friendly service, good food -open to special requests. The Scala fits both fine dining and family time. Recommended. Pricing is lower than you could expect for the city, the location and the standards of this restaurant.

I just visited Scala's Bistro this past weekend, the food and atmosphere were amazing. It's located on the lower floor of the Sir Francis Drake hotel, so if you're staying there, you have a great restaurant to visit. I sat at the bar and was amazed by how fast, efficient and friendly the bar tender was. You can't go wrong... More

You don't get more San Francisco than Scala's, located just off the Powell Street cable car line, steps from Union Square. And with great location comes great responsibility: that's why we work hard to maintain our reputation as one of the city's most essential dining destinations by creating an atmosphere as sophisticated and inviting as the food we bring to the table.
