After so many months of this pandemic, it was like a homecoming to return to Kokkari. The food remains exceptional and the service excellent. You pay for all of these things, but at least it feels like you are getting a top-notch experience. The lamb...kabob still fills my dreams!More

Was on this side of town - so we popped in without a reservation - and they were able to seat us - but we had to be quick (1 1/2 hours) as table and restaurant was booked. Not a problem for the 2 of...us - being Greek - we knew what we wanted. We ordered a bunch of appetizers and not a dinner. Grilled octopus, some of the best I have ever had, Avgolemino soup is just like yia yia's, saganki was yummy (when is it not), village salad was fresh and bread/pita to sop everything up with was spot on. Only thing we didn't care for was the spinatyropita. Never heard of it - either one or the other - but in any case - it was just ok. Our servers were outstanding. Order the chocolate cake to go as we were stuffed. That didn't disappoint later in the evening - while watching a movie! It is a large restaurant and it was packed when we were leaving. Highly recommend and can't wait to go back for the octopus.More

Wasn't quite sure what to expect with the rave online reviews and also personal reviews from friends, but I had very high expectations. I think after all was said and done, I think I was a bit disappointed. While the dinner was very good, well...cook and prepared, there was nothing amazing. After asking our server what was great, I had the Ribeye. It was really good but not stop the bus, holy cow, never had anything like that before great. In fact, I can cook a better one. The rest of the dinner and my wife's meal was very good, but again nothing spectacular. You know how you can think back to your top/ favorite meals of all time at a restaurant, maybe up to 10? This would not be in my top 10 and the price was crazy high....really expensive. Wouldn't go back but was worth a try.More

My husband and I celebrated our 70th Birthday's in late June and wanted to finally give the restaurant and staff, especially our head server, James, a shout out because it was without doubt the best birthday we ever had. There were 16 of us at...the big chef's table right in front of the kitchen. I picked out a wonderful selection of dishes for the dinner, too many to list, but the highlights by everyone at the table, were the zucchini cakes, roasted prawns, greek salad, whole grilled branzino, lamb chops, everything delicious. The staff was fantastic, our wine glasses were never empty, the food kept coming. It was also our first time out in over a year, in a large group, at a restaurant, we felt like we got out of jail and celebrated life again. Thank you Kokkari for making our birthday's a special day that we will never forget. Debbie and CharlieMore

You know, when you have a reservation for the first seating of the day, and many other people do too, and they're swarming like ants to get in, that you've found a very special place. This is one of those places. We arrived at 5:00...or so I guess for our 5:15 seating. While we were walking up to the front door, we passed some of the staff by the back door. Sadly, I write it was amazingly unexpected, because who does that? But that warm, genuine greeting set the table for an amazing night. We were celebrating our 15th anniversary, and it was a home run. We had ordered a corn based appetizer that escapes me and I remarked to the waiter I couldn't believe I wasn't getting the spinach pie. He suggested I do so, and I couldn't be happier. Great wine list, we both got fish dishes that were fresh and succulent. Place was very busy, and the only concern was when a table was sat next to us, maybe 6 inches between us? During normal times, acceptable. During a pandemic, not so much. Only because of the vigilance about being vaccinated was it reluctantly tolerated. I understand fully, just not doing backflips over it. Otherwise, SUBLIME.More

We visited on a Sunday evening. The neighborhood surrounding the restaurant was quiet, but the restaurant itself was packed and lively! The restaurant is larger than it looks. The decor is elegant, with a bar in the front, a narrow room of tables, and a...larger room of tables near the back. We were seated in the narrow, middle room and happy for that location; while air flow was a little limited (and it was thus warm), our table felt more private and the narrow room avoided the extremely noisy atmosphere of the back room. The only weird thing is the restroom situation—you take an elevator downstairs to the restrooms, which is just odd; the staircase alternative goes through staff-only areas. The menu was an appealing array of modern takes on Greek classes, from appetizers to entrees to desserts. It was very difficult to choose what to eat, because so many things looked good! Our server—sober, but helpful—guided us. We ordered a lot of food! Standouts among the appetizers were the fish roe dip (taramosalata) with fresh pita, the fried smelt (with a delicious garlicky sauce), a horiatiki salad, kalamboki (corn salad), and lamb meatballs. With entrees, the lemon-oregano chicken was superb—juicy and tender, with delicious Greek potatoes. Lamb skewers were also perfectly cooked and went very well with tzatiki. Overall, a delicious feast. Desserts also did not disappoint. Pricing was fairly expensive, but the food was delicious and had some modern twists while retaining its Greek essence. A very nice dining experience and a place to which I’d definitely return.More

We started with grilled Octopus that was so incredible, we asked for a second order. The server was kind enough to tell us to hold off, plenty of food was coming our way. Of course, he was right!

Kokkari is always a go to place for us and we are never disappointed. We had the pikilia, dolmathes, and spanakotiropita for starters. Our entrees were the roti lamb special, lamb shank, and sole filet. For desert we had the baklava and yogurt me meli....The entire meal and service was great as always!More

This is my favorite SF restaurant. I have been here numerous times and the food and service do not disappoint. Fabulous all around. Lamb is a speciality! We asked to sit in the corridor connecting the front dining room with the large dining room where...the kitchen is. It is my favorite place to sit as the noise level is less. Great service from Jason, fabulous food from the restauranat -- such a treat!More

Hi. You'd have to contact them, I'm not the restaurant and I do not know if they are open on Thanksgiving. My apologies.
