Brandy Ho’s is one my two favorite restaurants in San Francisco (I’ll write about the other — Tomasso’s — when I have time to do it justice.). I’ve been going to Brandy Ho's for nearly 30 years and it never, ever disappoints. It has spoiled me for other Chinese restaurants. The crew is friendly, highly efficient and family oriented. Jack... Great food! Great service! Very accommodating to exactly what we were looking for. My kids are the picky American "Panda Express" type. We were trying to find something in China Town that wasn't "too authentic" but still part of the culture. This was a great choice. My husband and I were able to order more authentic Chinese with custom spiciness... More

During vacation to SF went to Brandy Ho's after reading about it. The food was good - I had shrimp in a creamy sauce with honey covered walnuts. The shrimp was served on a bed of green (raw) cabbage. Excellent and different. When I asked what was in the sauce, I was surprised to hear mayonnaise! And of course, a... More

Ok, so I have officially become a creature of habit when it comes to Hunan food in San Fran. The Brandy Ho is by far the best. Shrimp and broccoli spicy, so simple and yet so good! Service is always friendly and good. If alone, just sit at the counter!

Brandy Ho's is a real-deal, SF Chinatown classic, which has been in business for over 40 years serving very good Hunan style food. The setting is informal and comfortable with very friendly wait staff. The tables are set far enough apart so that diners can feel a sense of privacy. The food is fresh and of good quality with the... More

Excellent service. Excellent food. Spice was just right! Good wine list as well. I will definitely share with my Houston friends when visiting San Francisco area. Worth the visit.

I have been going to Brandy Ho's for almost thirty years. Whenever I am traveling in SF I make it a point to stop by for lunch or dinner. The biggest change during those decades is that the "NO MSG" sign is now in plastic letters rather than painted on the walls. Everything that I have had is good, but... More

The food was not bad, but everything - service, taste, atmosphere - was +- average, not a restaurant I would like to revisit, frankly (though nothing to blame for)

This was the most less than mediocre, bland, overrated food I've had in ages. I cannot stress enough how blah and disappointing their food tastes. Their service is completely below par (and we had delivery! It's not rocket science). I am not sure where this flavorful and delicious food is coming from in all of the other reviews but we... More

This place is so cool and big enough so that even when it is crowded you feel relaxed. Headline - No MSG, this is huge for me plus the food is awesome and you can ask for it to be as spicy as you want. I tend to go alone so I like sitting at the counter and watching the... More

Chinatown
As the oldest in North America, San Francisco's Chinatown is an exotic experience. A unique neighborhood decorated with colorful shops, historic streetlights, hanging lanterns, and pagoda roofs awaits behind the stone-carved dragon gates. Feast on dim sum at the tea houses, or meet the locals who gather at historic Portsmouth Square to play chess or practice Tai Chi. Fish markets, produce stands, tourist shops, jewelry stores, fortune tellers, temples and restaurants come together to create a world unto itself in this historic neighborhood.
