Caffe Greco outperformed on the simple things: caffe latte, bagel and smoked salmon and a biscotti. The latte was tasty, the coffee very fresh. The bagel came topped with tiny slices of red onion and a thicker slab of beefy, ripe tomato. The finish included salt, pepper and what I think was oregano. It was the tastiest, most lip-smacking bagel... More

Nice spot in Italian district. Best coffee we had in San Fran. We sat outside on the sidewalk. Authentic Italian Panini.

Delicious! Coffee is fantastic, cafe Greco is basically a huge cappuccino. OJ is fresh squeezed each glass, big serving!, pastries are delicious and simple choices. Croissant with egg and cheese, waffle with fruit, bagel with salmon. All very good, super nice guys behind the counter. Seats out front, in the cafe, and also next door. Very reasonably priced to boot!

Good location. Parking possible. Good wines, beers, coffees and cakes. Plenty of room inside, and many go there to internet. Popular locals haunt.

We all went here for breakfast and it was a good choice. I had an egg sandwich which was very good but the big hit at the table was the bagels and lox. It was really, really good. Have that and either a latte or espresso - you won't be sorry.

Staying in North Beach / Telegraph Hill

Neighborhood Profile
North Beach / Telegraph Hill
The aroma of freshly roasted coffee beans, the sounds of opera, and the sights of the romantic Italian ristorante come together to create the charming neighborhood of North Beach, once the stomping grounds for the Beatnik Generation. Although parts of North Beach are known for nightlife that’s not always suitable for younger visitors, few neighborhoods in the city exude as much European charm and style. Peruse a bookstore for the literature of Kerouac, Ferlinghetti and Ginsberg, grab some gelato and head to Washington Square for a perfect afternoon of people watching. Just east of North Beach, the hills and staircases of Telegraph Hill are a unique delight. At its peak, the art deco Coit Tower provides sweeping panoramic views of the bay and city. The beautifully landscaped Filbert Street Steps, a street too steep for a roadway, rewards those willing to hike uphill. Keep your ears open and you might even hear the squawk of the wild parrots who call this neighborhood home.
