We had a late lunch at this restaurant. Both appetizers were great. Mine: warm figs with goat cheese. Spouse's: salad with vinaigrette. Excellent. Soup and burger for main course. Not crazy expensive.

Beautifully light and airy dining room still surprisingly half full given the lateness of the hour. Eclectic mix of options on afternoon menu; hamburger, oysters and a slow cooked chicken. Solid service and good value for money.

During a visit to SF in August 2016, friends who lived in that City invited us to Zuni Cafe. Apparently, reservations are hard to come by, but our friends arranged. We all got the house specialty (chicken roasted in brick oven) and Caesar salads. Everyone satisfied! Prices are a bit high, but this is SF, and the restaurant is somewhat... More

Was here late on a Saturday night. We had a clams with lamb sausage as an appetizer. This was terrific! I had a fish dish which was good but very light. My companion had their porchetta dish and he just loved it. He's been there over the years and enjoys this restaurant. I would go back.

This place was so amazing! It's a rustic-decor restaurant on Market St in downtown SF with a wood-burning oven and a gourmet take on clean, simple, amazing food. Our server was attentive and prompt, the food was delicious, the wine list was perfection. With its brick-and-rough-hewn-wood architecture, it manages to be cozy and upscale at the same time. Highly recommend... More

Yes, everyone comes for the chicken and that is great. But maybe this restaurant needs to spend some time on a few other matters that diners also consider important in a restaurant. The staff need a bit of waking up. Service on a Sunday was forgetful and slow. Also the habit of clearing tables before all diners have finished their... More

Everyone tells you about the awesome chicken. It was awesome. Recommendation: order one chicken for every 2-3 people when ***you sit down***. Then, look over the menu and order one other entree for every 2 people in the party. Party of 6? Order 2 chickens when you sit down and 3 entrees after reviewing the menu. Personally, my favorite was... More

A group of friends went to Zuni last night because we heard they served an amazing chicken dish. It's hard to get excited about chicken, but OMG. It's supposed to be for two but easily can feed three. We also had a couple of starters. All were good, but the gnocchi was a standout. Nice wine list and great atmosphere.

Went with some friends who had been here before; my first time. The chicken was to die for! But note it takes awhile to prepare so don't be in a hurry. We had a variety of dishes that we shared, and everything was simply delicious. Nice wine list. Staff service was friendly and prompt. I would go back. Make sure... More

If you're expecting the best chicken you've ever had, it's pretty good. But try to remember, it's chicken, and no matter where you dine, it's pretty much the same everywhere. Wine list is quite extensive, and almost unaffordable; we're from New York, so high prices are routine. But it seems SF prices are at an entirely different level. Ambience and... More

Chock full of designer boutiques, art galleries, funky shoe stores, and great restaurants, it’s hard to imagine Hayes Valley once languished in the shadow of a major freeway.
