Highly recommend to order the chicken with the bread salad. It takes 60 to prepare so you have the option to call before and order, if not...is worth waiting for it at the restaurant.

I first ate here in 1982, and it's only improved in the decades. The bar area remains my favorite spot in San Francisco - it's unpretentious and beautiful, with terrific food and drinks. My #1 meal here is oysters, shoestring fries, a Caesar salad, and a bottle of bubbles with my sweetheart. Their burgers are amazing too! But if you're... More

One of my favorite restaurants in San Francisco. They have the best bloody Mary's I have ever had. This is the only place where I order one. Everyplace else always disappoints. Get the one with the aged balsamic vinegar and fresh diced onions. Also make sure to order the shoestring potatoes. The Ceasar salad is also one of the best... More

I had some family over from all over the world. We were told that Zuni was my friends favorite place to eat. I got angel hair pasta. It was pretty good. It's your basic pasta. Nothing special. But around my table, my family was getting some beautiful plates full of lettuce and chicken and soups of all kind. They really... More

Had looked forward to a return to Zuni after a couple of years....and it didn't disappoint. We decided to have a cocktail at the bar first then went upstairs to our table. Glad we delayed as our table was in a 'hot pocket' of the restaurant - really baking hot on a not overly warm day. Had some nice starters... More

We'd heard such incredible things about this place and finally made it for dinner. And we were disappointed. The menu is VERY limited...like 8 things. No vegetarian entrees. Few items if you limit your proteins. Prices are high and portions very small. Checking this one off the list....and putting in the "don't care if I ever go back" column.

My boyfriend and I sat at a window table, soaking up the gorgeous San Francisco summer sunshine and enjoying a wonderful lunch at Zuni Cafe. I'd recommend a half bottle of bubbles to start with a selection of oysters from their extensive list... Opt for the local and west coast oysters and you won't be disappointed. We had a couple... We had a delicious dinner here. Zuni came recommend to us from a friend and the positive reviews I read. It has a very cool atmosphere and the service was impeccable. Our server was friendly, knowledgeable and attentive. The food was delicious. We had the burrata salad and their special over roasted chicken, which was flavorful and delicious. Definitely worth... We come here every year for their famous chicken dish. But Zuni does offer so much more; professional services, good vibe, and other very decent dishes. It is simply a classic.

Staying in Hayes Valley

Neighborhood Profile
Hayes Valley
Chock full of designer boutiques, art galleries, funky shoe stores, and great restaurants, it’s hard to imagine Hayes Valley once languished in the shadow of a major freeway. Its removal allowed for the creation of an attractive boulevard on Octavia Street with a community park at its center and dozens of trendy businesses to satisfy visitors looking for a stylish respite.
