we were really disappointed with the food. mushrooms with chickpeas was a total disappointment. the fried okra was ok. the crawfish etouffee was disgusting. the sampler plate for $21 was a big mushy mess. we had 5 drinks (2 friends joined us) and that food, sent back the mushroom/chickpea app and the rest for $125 no including tax/tip. we would... If you have been to New Orleans and enjoy their food please do not expect that here. A local turned me on to this place and since I love New Orleans food I gave it a try. They have a sampler option where you can pick three local NOLA favorites. So, I went with Crawfish Etouffee, red beans and Jambalaya.... More

I used to live right down the street and have always loved Elite. They have finally re-opened and it was great! The gumbo is much better than before in my opinion (much more authentic). It was still good before but had a "California" vibe to it. The gumbo now is the real deal! The collard greens were amazing as well!!... More

Needless to say, I was very disappointed earlier this year when I heard that The Elite Cafe was being sold. While it was an old favorite, it did need a little revamping. Boy oh boy...has it gotten the royal treatment!! Total renovated decor from floor to ceiling. There are still some of the old favorites on the list...Gumbo, Crawfish Etouffee,... More

Before they closed down, we enjoyed a great dinner on our arrival and Sunday Brunch before they closed. Wonderful life dinner music and dinner booth sitting was a great touch. Service was great, Nickolas you rock! Food was very good. You must try the MeetingHouse biscuits...to die for! Blackened Pork Chop and and Jambalaya were also very good. Good Sunday... More

My husband and I had dinner here last night. We were really looking forward to it because of the live music. It is a lovely restaurant with a really old world feel. Little booths and a nice bar. The only draw back was that we were sat down the back of the restaurant in the last seat which was where... More

This is a long time local favorite, attractive, good food and service, and excellent live jazz trio Sun-Thurs. Energetic buzz but you can still converse comfortably. Many of the tables are VERY close together bistro-style, which encourages conversation with neighbours, but not privacy. There are however a number of semi-enclosed booths along one side suitable for private rendezvous and conversation... More

Our most recent visit to Elite Cafe was another wonderful treat. They now feature Fried Chicken and Blues on Monday nights. The recipes are authentic and the flavorings are bold just like you would find in New Orleans. The Jambalaya is rich and flavorful. Don't forget to save room for the beignets for desert if they are available. The private... More
