This one of a number of restaurants in the Fillmore area of Pacific Heights. We thought the ceviche was good and between us we tried a variety of main courses. The meat skewers are a good option if you don't want a large main course. I tried the whole cooked branzino fish which was excellent. It's fried lightly and served... More

I am Peruvian and love to eat and try Peruvian's restaurants. The fish they use for the ceviche is really good but they need to improve in the taste.. Service is mediocre and for the price i was expecting something better..

As my lovely partner is a native of Peru and introduced me to many varieties of great Peruvian food, while in San Francisco, I wanted to surprise her and take her to a place with some of her home cooking. I did my research and narrowed it down to three places: La Mar( a Gaston Acurio restaurant in the Emarcadero);... More

This place was packed - glad we had a reservation. I had the Pescado a Lo Macho and it was delicious! It was a little imposing to eat but once I pried it off the bone and threw that all in the bowl they provide it was easy to eat, tender and amazing. My husband had a variety of ceviche... More

everything we eat was very good, since we couldnt decide on the ceviche, we did the sampler. all of them were very good. i was partial to the salmon. some had some heat. we also were indecisive on the anticuchos, so again we did the sampler. we would order again. the wine list and beer and cider list were cool.... Tried the ceviche sampler, plantain chips and lamb with chimichurri. Lamb was extremely tender, absolutely perfect. My favorite 3 out of the 6 in ceviche sampler were Ceviche Allanza Lima, Tiradito Pucusana & Tiradito Nikkei. Absolutely delicious!

We met our friends at Fresca on a recommendation from their daughter, who calls San Francisco home. Our friends grew up in Peru and Ecuador said that ther daughter loved the food there. The restaurant serves authentic Peruvian food, is really clean, has great atmosphere and even better food. If you like paella consider adding this to your places to... More

Ceviche is one of the pillars of Peruvian food and Fresca missed the mark. I had the Alianza; it was way too spicy (real ceviche in Peru is lemony with a little kick - this was extremely hot). My companions ceviche had a fish bone inside the ceviche. The antichuchos of beef heart were excellent. soft and chewy. I could... More
