We had seen this on Triple D and decided to try it....we were kinda disappointed...I had a steak sandwich and the steak was tough, the pickles were yummy....it's an interesting bar/restaurant and they only take CASH so be aware of that. It's reasonably priced but just so-so.

Chose this place because it was close when we got hungry and Guy Fieri had done a show about it and the Turkey. Didn't try the turkey but the Beef Burgundy was very good. My wife had a sliced meat dish with rice and didn't care for it. They were both very dry. We both had the slaw and both... More

Ordered the roastbeef platter twice. Was very good. Tries the BBQ beef but it was very fat. Good place for sandwich.

The style and people have a real old fashioned style. Nice place to get the atmosphere as an foreign tourist. You order the food in line and it is prepared from a buffet while you wait. Take a seat and the waitress gets you a drink.

This place is so unique and the food is delicious. We went here because it was on diners drive ins and dives and it did not disappoint. You really need to go here if you can! Also the food is really cheap.

OK, so its not a great restaurant, but as a "throw-back" to an earlier era in San Francisco its a must--the buffalo is really good, the roast beef and/or turkey french dip sandwiches are still the best and the barrel of pickles has been good forever- been going here since college (mid-60's) and its always the same, severs have worked... What a throw back this restaurant is. You stand in line, place your order and watch them carve up the meat you want. I had a taste for some turkey and wow, I was not disappointed. My companion had sliced beef and it smelled fantastic. He said the taste was great. Lots of food, good tasting.

We were staying across the road and didn't fancy much of a walk and Tommy's had been recommended by a taxi driver For those that aren't American it's a bit like a carvery. You have to get your food before sitting down and have a choice of meats then choose from in a sandwich or or a plate with mash... More

If you haven't been here or seen it on TV, it is tough to explain, but one word: GO! You walk into a relic and the food line is staffed to the max. The selection is amazing and it is all freshly prepared on site. Remember the Seinfeld line about turkey? Well there are a dozen real birds in the... More

Simple robust and tasty food served in an atmospheric bar where nothing has changed in 50 years. This is what many visitors to the USA crave - an authentic restaurant which is independent, provide good value for money, unpretentious (and not necessarily trendy). Keep up the good work - Tommys!
