Perfectly nice lunch

I had a very nice lunch here with a new co-worker. The ice tea was delicious; the pulled turkey club sandwich was served on a plank with fries, and I enjoyed it very much.

We arrived early for a play and went in for a quick bite. The veggie/sausage soup was delicious as was the tomato bisque with a hint of ginger. Their scrumptious fries rounded out our meal. Sitting at a high table by the bar, we were able to enjoy the lovely urban garden outside. Much of the produce is used by... More

On way to SF Library for a film, we stopped in for a bite at the Soluna bar and some world series playoffs, group of friends already gathered for the film we were going to. Macraroni and cheese was so good, with bread; and civic burger delicious and rich, must be the cheese. We will go back for another treat.... More

We were a fairly large party with reservations and were seated right away. The waitress took drink orders and brought water. When ordering the food she pushed for added al la crate items indicating that the entree items were very small. This was not necessary and too much food. Two of us had the same drink and we asked the... More

We dropped by this place for dinner before the theater. Food was resonably good (more of a lounge than a restaurant), service was excellent. Small wine list, interesting cocktails. Will go again.

The food is wonderful, ambiance vibrant with noise level (which is beginning to make a difference to us in restaurants) enthusiastic but not uncomfortably loud. A great place to catch dinner before the Symphony, Opera, Orpheum Theatre's and have a nice 5 min. walk or so afterwards. A full Bar: Cocktails are cleaver & creative, Wine selections very nice. Starter:... More

As many have said the location for this cafe across from the Civic Center garage and near the Opera House and the Orpheum, makes it an attractive and easy place meet with friends for a pre-performance meal. Big mistake!!! The menu tries to be trendy, but many of the combinations don't work and some those that would work fail due... More

This is a wonderful restaurant within walking distance of the SF Opera House, Symphony Hall, and Orpheum Theatre. They have great food, much of it grown locally, a wonderful Charcuterie/Cheese plate to share that combines local cheeses and home-cured meats with cured olives, house-made jams, nuts and thin slices of bread. This past time my husband had an entree of... More

We were really looking forward to trying the Soluna Cafe as we are always on the look out for places to eat near the Hayes Valley civic center overlap. Ambiance is hip and cool. Bar looked good. We were seated in a nice both and promptly ordered. Waiter new nothing about their short wine list..OK maybe not a wine drinker.... More

Picked Soluna for the proximity to the Orpheum. Had reservations for after a show. Our party of 4 was seated promptly. I was disappointed there was no view of the Civic Center. My bad for not researching better I guess. We were waited on quickly and given water and our drink order was taken. We also ordered bread. She returned... More

Staying in Civic Center

Neighborhood Profile
Civic Center
Civic Center is the seat of power for all things government and performance-related in the city. Although its streets are best walked during daytime, numerous cultural gems are within close proximity to one another. The symphony, opera, ballet, and jazz center offer year round entertainment within the shadow of the city’s Beaux-Arts crown jewel: the gold tipped dome of City Hall.
