We have just returned to our hotel after a wonderful meal at Bask. The tapas are really the best in SF. Don't forget to leave room for the churros. They are the BEST I have ever eaten. Get there early as it is very popular.

Bask specializes in Basque tapas. We tried a wide variety of these small plates: I enjoyed the meatballs more than my wife, but she preferred the calamari more than I. Both plates were good. Gambas were tasty and the restaurant offers a good wine list. The restaurant has the air of a local eatery. There was a good crowd and... More

Fabulous meal on the last night of our holiday. Wine was sensational, from a good selection, and our meal was great.

Took my daughter and wife to Bask to celebrate a birthday and had a really good meal. The tapas were all very good. We had the meatballs. grilled veggies, and salad. All were great. For our main, we had the Seafood Paella in black squid ink. Extremely flavorful. Minor complaint was that service was really, really slow. Waitress was too... More

Spend $50 or $200, enjoy a great glass of wine in great, warm ambiance with tapas (or pinchas as they're called in Spain). Sadly, we don't have the same tradition of inexpensive bites or even free bites along with wine, but they do offer a happy hour during the work week with reduced prices on drinks and snacks. We were... More

Was pleasantly surprised to try this tapas place in the Financial District. I had family in town and it was the perfect time to try a bunch of tapas. Great place for groups! Nice warm and bright place giving it a vibrant relaxed atmosphere. My aunt ordered practically everything in the menu so I was happy I got to try... More

Lovely restaurant with great service. Food is interesting as is their wine list. Saturday nights are generally busy so perhaps book but as it is a large restaurant you can usually get away with not!

6 of us at a meeting went. We ordered multiple items and shared. We had several dietary restrictions (Gluten diary eggs alcohol) and all were easily accommodated. Food was excellent.

Staying in Financial District

Neighborhood Profile
Financial District
The Financial District lies just east of Chinatown but can seem a world apart given it’s San Francisco’s version of Wall Street. The rush of business people make up a hectic weekday and add to a frenetic pace of life, but visitors who spend a few hours walking the narrow streets will be rewarded with fine examples of historic and contemporary architecture, including the iconic Transamerica Pyramid. After business hours, bars and restaurants quickly fill up with happy hour revelers. Stocks aren’t the only kind of market being followed, the Ferry Building Marketplace on the Embarcadero is a gourmet food emporium and farmers market that will satisfy anyone working up an appetite.
