What a nice find in San Francisco!! Great food at a great price. Definately recommend this place! The manager even came around to check up on things. Quality.

Nice friendly staff, cashiers, and manager. When you take a seat, get a menu and select items and beverages to consume, you must also go to the register and place your order. You pay and are given a number for your table. The items come relatively quickly. The pastrami sandwich combo and the Cuban sandwich with salad were our orders.... More

With so many options to choose from we were disappointed with this one. Looked promising - young lady serving behind counter was nice enough but our food was beyond average. Simple Big breakfast but eggs were watery and bacon should not have left the kitchen except in the rubbish bag - burnt beyond burnt. Was replaced but replacement wasn't much... More

The Grove has a great assortment of soups, salads, sandwiches and more. The restaurant has a comfortable, laid back atmosphere and the people are friendly and helpful. Pies are made fresh daily. You can't go wrong with the Grove.

Daily pies made fresh are usually a good option. The pecan pie on a recent visit was the right amount of sweetness and nuttiness. Coffee very good though not stellar. A nice spacious room and it has a sort of San Francisco vibe from an earlier decade rather than the tech boom twittery appley city it is now.

I've eaten here many times in the past few years because of its proximity to the opera house and to symphony hall. The service is always quick and the quality is excellent.

Been here a few times while visiting sf and it's always been good. The line is always out the door but the wait is never too bad. The inside of the restaurant is cute and cozy and the outside is nice too with heaters on chilly days. As for the food and coffee it's always great too. I will definitely... More

My wife and I stopped here for a snack and drinks before a show at SFJazz a few doors down the street. It's a nice open place with what we found to be friendly, attentive service that was just right for the occasion. You order at a counter, pick up drinks, and head for a table. Food is brought to... be prepared to wait in line a little to place your order, but from there it's more like a dine-in-with-waiter experience. The service is very good. The food is decent for the price. And healthy. Wine options are good too. I will go back.

Neighborhood Profile
Hayes Valley
Chock full of designer boutiques, art galleries, funky shoe stores, and great restaurants, it’s hard to imagine Hayes Valley once languished in the shadow of a major freeway.
