It's hard to find a perfect macaroon. Especially after having tried macaroons in Paris. However hands down, these are some of the best I've ever had. We only bought two, which we ate as we wondered along. As soon as we'd finished them, we turned around and bought more!

Chantal Guillon on Hayes Street in the Hayes Valley District of San Francisco is producing extremely high quality macarons as good as any you will find in Paris. All macarons are made from natural ingredients and are gluten free.

I am in San Francisco for a business trip and one of my colleagues/friends has some significant dietary restrictions. She found this place and they use almond flour to make the macarons so they are all 100% gluten free. I don't even like macarons but I got a red velvet one and it was delicious. I highly suggest this place.

Found myself stopping into Chantal Guillon more and more frequently. The staff is always friendly and attentive and they're cookies, ice cream, and coffees are exactly what I need to get me through a busy afternoon. Quick service gets you in and out and the coffee is the best around. Will definitely continue to visit & recommend to friends and... More

These are very soft at the core, with a delicate and perfectly flaky outer shell. Not every city has even a half way decent macaron, so if you love them and are in SF, you should stop here! Located on a cute street w/ lots of restaurants and shops as well- I was able to find street parking at a... More

I'm a huge macaron fan. I make them myself, I've tasted many from different places, and I can honestly say that this is as good as it gets. Granted, I've never tasted the macarons from Laduree, but from everyone I've spoken to regarding Laduree, this place is as good, if not better than their's. As to be expected if one... More

The words "overpriced" and "pretentious" are tossed around quite a bit in San Francisco. Here's another reason to stick to that same vocabulary. Why you'd ever want to pay $2-3 for a single bite of mostly air is beyond me. Even for those making Series A money. An even bigger ripoff? This thing, about the size of an Andes candy... More

Best macarons I have had so far! They had no air bubbles in them and I especially enjoyed the red velvet and vanilla flavor.

We came here for breakfast but you can't walk in to macaroon place without trying it out! I tried the salted caramel (which i didn't like that much to be honest), the Persian Rose (which was amazing and very light), and the vanilla (which was my favourite!). The service was nice and they were supper friendly!

Neighborhood Profile
Hayes Valley
Chock full of designer boutiques, art galleries, funky shoe stores, and great restaurants, it’s hard to imagine Hayes Valley once languished in the shadow of a major freeway. Its removal allowed for the creation of an attractive boulevard on Octavia Street with a community park at its center and dozens of trendy businesses to satisfy visitors looking for a stylish respite.
