Great Austrian food and beers at a reasonable price. I have been there three times and thoroughly enjoyed all my meals. Be aware, however, that it can be quite loud at times in this very popular restaurant.

Came in on a rainy Saturday evening for dinner. Was greeted kindly and sat in the only table left. I was actually shocked how packed it was because it was 6 pm. The dining room is relatively small which may be why it seemed so packed. Our waitress was very sweet but was hard to hear here because the room... More

After a long day travelling from the UK I wanted a nice warm hearty meal and Leopolds surely delivered. The staff were extremely friendly and the food was lovely. Great flavour and tender meat, all finished off with some great German beer.

If you like German/Austrian food, you must go here. The schnitzel is to die for and the spätzle is done right. I lived in Germany for several years and this restaurant made me so happy. I got the schnitzel but traded out the potato cucumber salad for spätzle. We also ordered a side of Blau kraut which I think they... More

We stopped for dinner and made it in before it got too crazy. The dinner was out of this world! Priced mid range. Service was prompt and very friendly! All four of us were very pleased with our meals! Would most definitely return.

We've been here twice and it's one of our favorites. The decor is really quaint, the service is great, and the food authentic. The beer isn't too bad, either! Get there early or you'll wait as it's a small place. They don't take reservations. Can't beat the Wiener Schnitzel and Jägerschnitzel...they are the bomb. I prefer the Jägerschnitzel because of... The food was fabulous, just like we had in Munich. The butternut squash pasta was amazing. Beer was over the top and a lovely atmosphere. Great staff.

Staff was friendly. Beer good and cold. Noisy but lots of enthusiastic vibe here! Menu guage towards German offerings. Looked interesting but we had just eaten elsewhere.

Staying in Russian Hill

Neighborhood Profile
Russian Hill
Russian Hill has evolved into a chic residential neighborhood with outstanding views from every corner. Combined with several great cafes, restaurants, antique shops and boutiques, it’s easy to see why any visitor would gladly leave their heart in San Francisco. Cars line up day after day to drive down Lombard Street, the “crookedest” street in the world, and make the slow creep downhill past charming period homes. Polk Street is the main drag in this neighborhood, where you will find trendy bars, cafes and shops populated with locals, but for one of the most charming rides in the city, grab a cable car heading up and down Hyde Street.
