Ok. This is one of those little Hole-in-the-Wall restaurants you always hope you’ll find when you travel, that completely surprises you and is so good you eat too much and roll out of the restaurant. We had Tempura Udon that was to die for! The...Gyozas are tremendous, and literally everything we ordered was fantastic! Highly recommend!!More

We went for a walk in Chinatown and walked by this Japanese style restaurant on our way back. The interior was plain and obviously Chinese run. We ordered a Tempura special and a sushi nigiri deluxe special. The service was curt and slow. The salads...came wilted and the sesame dressing less than fresh. The Tempura came out quite oily and obviously not drained. The sushi was disappointing at best. The sushi rice was way off and the fish seemed less than fresh. We left disappointed and unsatisfied.More

I know its San Francisco and it has the best of all the Asian cuisines, but this little spot is so popular among the locals, I had to try it. Read the specials on the board, and let the waitresses pick for you. You cant...go wrong with anything!More

Non descript from the street, open door into small space, sushi counter to the left, tables to the right. Gets busy especially at lunch. So many choices, busy so waiting expected, order and food appears well paced. Been here many times, always good. Enjoy!

The same as most other sushi places around Union Square this place should have been updated 25 years ago. But this place is generous size sushi (rice and topping), it is served at good temperature and us fresh. If you are after low cost good,...standard sushi this is the place to go.More

Tried sometimes get a meal there, but the line and wait were too much. Then I thought the food would be great. It was just ok. And service was terrible. Can assure it is not authentic Japanese cuisine.

Centrally located near Union Square, right below Holiday Inn Union Square. We went there for dinner 3 out of the 5 nights. The dishes are authentic , as good as it can get even in Japan. The portions are big, hence it is not expensive....The restaurant is always crowded so go during off peak or you can put your name on the wait list and wait. The sushi, the don (Rice bowls) and the Nabeyaki Udon are all very good!More

This is an excellent Japanese restaurant. Perhaps I am not qualified to judge since I am not Japanese, but my friend and I were the only non-Japanese in the restaurant, which confirmed our impression. The service was quick, the food varied and authentic. My friend...had a generous bento box, I had a beef/onion/egg dish. The miso is great. Strongly recommended!More

Ate here two evenings in a row for dinner, tired of the over-priced restaurants at most hotels. No reservations, we were seated within 10 minutes each time. Make no mistake, one is not here for the atmosphere, this is a basic no-frills Japanese hole-in-the-wall eatery....Tables tightly spaced and packed with Asians of various nationalities, dining elbow to elbow, a veritable cacophony of Asian dialects overheard, Filipino, Mandarin, Japanese, the reassuring sight and sounds for any decent Asian restaurant. Service fast, staff sometimes forgetful, but when reminded of a missing order, quickly rectify the problem without complaint or fuss. Fantastic food for the price. We had teriyaki chicken and very good sushi. Dinner for 2 under $40 (no alcohol or beverages). A screaming deal for San Francisco.More

We had no reservation, but got a table for 2. The atmosphere is typically Japanese, so was the food we started with edamame, which was fine, had some sashimi of good quality (slices had been cut thinner) and some nigiri as well as some rolls,...and some mixed tempura. All was made fresh and was of delicious taste, very original. Fine assortment of Japanese beer, worth to taste! Service could have been faster. Good value for money.More
