I was so excited when my husband told me he was taking the entire family to a 3 Michelin Star to celebrate my daughter's 21st bday. First and foremost, the restaurant does NOT offer a menu which means you are to eat whatever the chef prepared for you whether you like it or not. I simply did NOT like that... More

I was completely convinced that Benu was the best restaurant in San Francisco... and then we dined at Saison. We have both struggled with "the best," and cannot come to a consensus on this. As we are deadlocked, we must return to each a half-dozen times, and then I can report. While there are a few similarities between the two,... More

What a wonderful dining experience at Saison in San Francisco. At first we were unsure ... the arrival and welcome was a little haphazard. Our table wasn't quite ready - which is fine - and we were shown to a seat in the bar. It took sometime, however, before anyone attended to us and the bartender seemed more interested in... More

I had opted for the chef's table at Saison, which is a three Michelin starred restaurant helmed by Joshua Skenes. The chef's table was located in a separate private space. The food was Japanese themed with very memorable dishes, especially the sea cucumber and abalone dish in the form of a bone marrow, served with a very rich broth.

This is a restaurant everyone should visit at least once in a lifetime. Only tasting menu with 20 something courses, very light food with great flavours. Only negative thing is the prices, 398$ for the menu exclusive wine.

A bit disappointing. Started with a call to confirmed reservation and remind me of the price (really??) Does many people go there and doesn't know the price or want to pay? We arrived about 10 minutes early and had to wait in the corner of the bar because even the empty seats were taken. (Weird) the space is big, so... More

The service was to perfection and the food was nice but when I compare the price to other restaurants I would rather eat 3 times at NOMA then one time at Saison. I didn't get caviar at NOMA so maybe the price difference is based on some of the ingredients used. The arrangement of the dishes was simple compared to... More

We have dined at a few 3 star Michelin restaurants in the past. This my be our favorite because it was our most recent, but just amazing. We had a 12 course tasting menu and a bottle of one of my favorite wines, Failla. Every course was excellent, one of the highlights was the raw lobster, but every course was... More

We saw some great reviews on Yelp and decided to try this place out. Saison has an industrial feel (it used to be an old power plant) with unique decor. The service from the moment you walk into the door till you left was impeccable. We didn't do the tasting menu since it was 3.5 hrs long. They started us... More

Staying in SoMa

Neighborhood Profile
SoMa
South of Market (SoMa), has an urban and sophisticated vibe, but you're more likely to find big nightclubs and lots of industrial loft residences than you are to find boutique shopping. Although it’s the epicenter for tech startups in the city, visitors will be able to do more than just business - museums, top quality restaurants, and the San Francisco Giants now call this neighborhood home. Most of its freeway-sized streets may not capture the same character as other neighborhoods in the city, but pockets of charm, like South Park, can still be found throughout its side streets.
