Food was really pathetic. Their so called GINGER CHUTNEY was totally stinky and stale and could smell the stench!! The masala rava dosa was missing masala and the owner brought it when we asked for that pretending he forgot!! Dhai vada had the most sour...yogurt. The entire place was very unhygienic and full of house flies. NEVER go there or you will get sick!!More

I am very skeptical about South Indian food at restaurants because I have a pretty high bar and this place failed. The food was not flavored well and did not taste fresh. I experienced stomach issues after eating here.

We weren't sure how it would be to do take out from Udupi Palace on Valencia at 21st, something we've never done. I can now definitively report that it was excellent! The incredible house curry dosa, mixed veg uthappam, comforting somosa chaat, savory sambar, hearty...coconut chutney, thick tamarind sauce, refreshing cilantro sauce ... all were delicious with deep flavors that blended very well together. Dinner was great yesterday and leftovers for lunch were perfect. Prices are very reasonable, portion sizes are good, and they can use the business. It's a win-win!More

Such a great experience sampling all the delicious South Indian food. I love the big round tray filled with condiments to enjoy with the breads and other dishes.

This is a not-too-big restaurant in the Mission District that serves quite authentic South India food. I had the masala dosa and loved it. They have a pretty broad range of items to suit your taste. Recommend it.

One of the worst food experience of our lives. Avoid this place like a plague. We have been eating udupi cuisine all our life and I can say it is ‘fake’, ‘fake’ and ‘fake’. I agree with most of the reviews here that manager and...staff were the rudest we have experienced in California. It is far from authentic Indian food. Our dishes felt undercooked, rushed with a weird Tex mex flavore. When we complaint about food quality, manager was called and instead of offering solution, he said “plenty of people seem to enjoy our food and if it is not to your taste that’s not our problem!!!”. We left the food and were made to pay our bill in full! Ruined our evening. Sticky with known brands like sarvana Bhagwan in future instead of this fake udipi restaurant.More

The food and the service were good. But average. Nothing to write home about. I would pass on the TV which continuously plays improbable dance scenes from India.

The food here never disappoints, nor does the service, and we always leave smiling. The preparation is essential, and the finished product reflects it. One of the reasons why Udupi Palace is such a treasure. Come here, eat well, and healthily. Enjoy!

The food in this southern Indian restaurant is terrific. The menu is diverse and the flavors seem very traditional. To find a good meal in SF for under $12 us incredible. Gotta start with the idli. The only downside is the noise level.
