I stumbled upon 54 Mint for a work engagement dinner and enjoyed our overall meal. the gnocchi was homemade, light and did not sit in your stomach for days to digest. The group was jealous of one colleague's lamb dish and of course he was unwilling to share. Don't be discouraged by the simple menu, it provides focus. And don't... More

We enjoyed dinner at 54 Mint. The menu is authentic Italian, as is the wine list and service. This spot is perfect for couples and small groups.

This is a very interesting location and would probably be better sitting outside if warm enough. We were led downstairs into the wine storage area which is lovely but very noisy. Our waiter was a bit pushy with the wine selection (which is a book) and we were trying to find a reasonably priced Italian wine, which is usually easy... More

We've had a very nice dinner at 54 Mint, the ambience was very nice, very good taste. Amongst others, we ordered an octopus, however the proportion was 1/5 octopus 4/5 potatoes, delicious, but a bit disappointing.

From the movement I walked up I was greeted with a smile and lovely attitude. They gave me a tour of the entire restaurant to insure wherever I sat I was the most comfortable. The lower level is nice and cosy but a little loud. Upper level is perfect. We actually choose to eat outside which became a little cold... More

My husband and I enjoyed our dinner at 54 Mint! The restaurant ambience is lovely and romantic and, if you didn't know better, you could easily believe you were in a quaint restaurant in a small village in Italy! Our server was knowledgeable and friendly and we enjoyed his recommendations for both food and wine! We shared a fondue appetizer... More

Went there for lunch and had a hard time getting served the person behind the counter ignored us, the person who sat us ignored us... time was ticking on the lunch break and we couldn't seem to order! Finally had salad and pasta. We shared tomato risotto croquets which were nice. Then each had pasta. My friend loved his gnocchi... More

You walk in a stranger and leave a friend. Everyone is so warm hearted and friendly as well as professional. Italian to the core the food is contemporary and authentic at the same time. Outstanding wines. The Rose was awesome. It's down a side street so it's quiet and quaint. Behind the old federal mint bldg. I recommend it to... More

This is a beautiful, comfortable restaurant. The staff are welcoming and nice. Most importantly, their food is very authentic, fresh, and delicious. Their wine selection is very carefully chosen, and our waiter was adept at helping us out on that front. We had this wonderful 2013 Vernatsch from Ansitz Rynnhof. Mmmm... so unusual and good. Our pastas were spot on,... More

We have lunch here more than a few times a month as we work in the building directly next door. The food is a mix of down home Italian and "New" Italian, (if that makes sense). All the entries and appetizers deliver! The service is excellent without being overbearing. If you like chicken, their take on grilled chicken is great.... More

Staying in SoMa

Neighborhood Profile
SoMa
South of Market (SoMa), has an urban and sophisticated vibe, but you're more likely to find big nightclubs and lots of industrial loft residences than you are to find boutique shopping. Although it’s the epicenter for tech startups in the city, visitors will be able to do more than just business - museums, top quality restaurants, and the San Francisco Giants now call this neighborhood home. Most of its freeway-sized streets may not capture the same character as other neighborhoods in the city, but pockets of charm, like South Park, can still be found throughout its side streets.
