Great food (oysters, Maine lobster, fried chicken), great bar service and great music. I was there for both lunch and dinner and both were busy and really good

Unfortunately I found the food to be very average. I love herbs but they should be used to complement not to overwhelm the food. Even the use of herbs in the cocktails was too much. Maybe the kitchen was having an off night when we were there. The popovers were overcooked and dry. My steak was very undercooked in spots... More

Highly recommend this place for dinner. We were a party of 4 and shared everything. The fried chicken was great, but they had an amazing bone in ribeye as the special. Also, good appetizers, amazing popovers, great dessert, and awesome cocktails.

We did not have a reservation on a busy Friday night, but we were able to sit at a bar side table. We actually enjoyed watching the Chef and staff prepare each dish beautifully. Unlike other reviewers, our service was great. We both enjoyed the smoked salmon, baby kale salad and deviled eggs. We would definitely return.

Was recommended Wayfare by a friend, had no idea their fried chicken entree is ranked among the best in America. Fresh herbs and spices on the skin, it was delicious. Also had the mac and cheese side and the burrata mash potatoes. Nice atmosphere if you like an older style American tavern. We enjoyed the meal.

We had a wonderful dinner at the Wayfare Tavern. We mentioned we had tickets to a show and had great service. We had the chicken, a filet mignon and the sole - each meal was delicious. Would highly recommend.

This review may be a little biased as I'm a loyal Tyler Florence fan. I was SO excited that I was able to get reservations for Wayfare Tavern. My husband got excited when he realized there was roasted bone marrow on the menu - I'm not crazy about bone marrow but this was a very tasty appetizer. My husband ordered... More

Typical American home cooked style restaurant . Visited with few business associates last Tuesday night on July 12, booked one and only one private room that can sit ip to 10 people . The restaurants Decorated with Very old tavern style and wooden floor. Somehow cosy in the private room but not outside sitting if you plan to have a... More

Brought some clients here for a lunch. I didn't make a reservation but was able to get a high top near the bar which worked out just fine. I would recommend making a reservation though if you know you'll be there. The restaurant is small and a bit tucked away and the ambience has a historical tavern feel to it.... More

Went for dinner. I had read a lot of reviews about the menu before going. My husband had their notorious fried chicken. He enjoyed it very much and agreed it lived up to the hype. The meat was moist and the Rosemary slice added a great flavor. I had the burger, another food critics choice. The flavors of the burger... More

Staying in Financial District

Neighborhood Profile
Financial District
The Financial District lies just east of Chinatown but can seem a world apart given it’s San Francisco’s version of Wall Street. The rush of business people make up a hectic weekday and add to a frenetic pace of life, but visitors who spend a few hours walking the narrow streets will be rewarded with fine examples of historic and contemporary architecture, including the iconic Transamerica Pyramid. After business hours, bars and restaurants quickly fill up with happy hour revelers. Stocks aren’t the only kind of market being followed, the Ferry Building Marketplace on the Embarcadero is a gourmet food emporium and farmers market that will satisfy anyone working up an appetite.
