We went early and only had to wait 40 minutes for a table. The place is small as most restaurants are but it is very popular with good reason--Great Pizza. I think it is the best pizza on the East Coast. If you're in San Francisco, dine at Joe's Pizza Napoletana.

We came here on recommendation from some friends and also after reading TripAdvisor. The pizza here is absolutely delicious and we loved how they have different ovens cooking in the different styles. We had a Barcelona which had chorizo tomato sauce, pepperoni, ham, paprika and scrambled egg on it. Incredible!

While 5.50 dollars seems a lot for a slice of pizza, it was really worth it! Loaded with toppings, the dough was totally excellent. One of the best pizzas we ever had.

Sat outside looking across the street to Washington Square Park. The Coccoli appetizer was fantastic and unique! Highly recommend it! The pizza options were outstanding and our selection (Classic American Pepperoni) was just right.

I fell in love with this pizza- the crust is excellent. It's not the thick, deep dish type. We also had a baked spinach & pepperoni calzone, delicious.WOW! Definitely worth the wait.

My husband and I ate lunch here. It is a very busy restaurant. We have been here several times. We shared a Caesar salad and tried this time we tried the sausage and stout pizza. We loved the crust. I would have preferred it a little less sweet. Next time we are in the area, we'll try another pizza.

I arrived at 8:30 on a Sunday evening to find a queue of people waiting for tables. They have an efficient process for dealing with the queue - they send you a text when your table is ready so you can have a drink at one of the nearby bars while you wait. I was dining solo so grabbed a... More

We were in the area during the afternoon and seen some really nice restaurants. So decided to come back later for dinner. Unfortunately (or not so much), the time passed on us and we only managed to get back around 10.40pm when all the restaurants we were thinking previously were closed. Tony's however still had an open door and when... More

The pizza was good, but the antipasto was absolutely incredible. Go for lunch as wait at lunch was 45 minutes verses dinner wait time of 90 minutes.

Staying in North Beach / Telegraph Hill

Neighborhood Profile
North Beach / Telegraph Hill
The aroma of freshly roasted coffee beans, the sounds of opera, and the sights of the romantic Italian ristorante come together to create the charming neighborhood of North Beach, once the stomping grounds for the Beatnik Generation. Although parts of North Beach are known for nightlife that’s not always suitable for younger visitors, few neighborhoods in the city exude as much European charm and style. Peruse a bookstore for the literature of Kerouac, Ferlinghetti and Ginsberg, grab some gelato and head to Washington Square for a perfect afternoon of people watching. Just east of North Beach, the hills and staircases of Telegraph Hill are a unique delight. At its peak, the art deco Coit Tower provides sweeping panoramic views of the bay and city. The beautifully landscaped Filbert Street Steps, a street too steep for a roadway, rewards those willing to hike uphill. Keep your ears open and you might even hear the squawk of the wild parrots who call this neighborhood home.
