The New Yorker is a true and tried favorite of my wife and me, but you can't go wrong with sooo many choices. Service is spot on and friendly. Tony's is worth the wait!

This was recommended to us - I can't think why. We were taken to the last cubicle on you right before the lavatories and staff door and then were made to wait an eternity before any staff took notice of us. Then we became aware of a deeply unpleasant small coming from the back. The waiter had the good grace... More

What a shame. I heard great things about Tony's and ws looking forward to some Pie. First, couldn't get a table so we decided to get some to go. Ordered their plain cheese and also another fully loaded. The cheese was good but don't waste your money on the New Yorker. It was awful. Staff was completely rude and after... More

Rang to get a take away Picante Pizza from this highly recommended Italian! Held on phone for 15 mins. Ordered and told 30 min wait. No problem got there early, was sent up the road to their take out section, paid and sat in front of counter waiting for my number to be called. After 20 mins server saw I... More

You will have to go there a few times as there are so many delicious pizzas to choose from. I met Tony who is a pizza legend. You will know why when you go.

While visiting San Francisco we Noticed the crowd and figured it must be good. We put our name on the list for a table and ordered drinks at the bar. Met a few locals at the bar who eat here very regular. They were in first name basis with the bartenders. Ended up sitting at the bar and ordering food... More

Went here for lunch with my sister. I didn't realize there were two store fronts. One for sit down dining and one for take out. We beat the lines (thanks to Trip Advisor) and got ours to go. Was very good. Probably would of been better to sit down and enjoy the atmosphere but our schedule didn't allow. Next time!

A group of four of us went for a meal, with two sharing a pizza, one having a chicken parm and the fourth having lasagna. I thought Sam's Club has a better lasagna. Pizza was very good as was a calamari starter. Downside: the wait to be seated was over an hour on a Thursday night.

I cant believe we actually waited for 2 hours. Visiting from Toronto with friends, we put in our names then went for a drink, but I have never waited this long for a table. anyway, they were so full they kept turning people down as they were booked for the night on this Saturday night in Feb. We finally got... More

Hands down the best pizza in San Francisco. Yes it is not cheap but worth every penny. The wait usually is not that bad. We highly recommend.

Staying in North Beach / Telegraph Hill

Neighborhood Profile
North Beach / Telegraph Hill
The aroma of freshly roasted coffee beans, the sounds of opera, and the sights of the romantic Italian ristorante come together to create the charming neighborhood of North Beach, once the stomping grounds for the Beatnik Generation. Although parts of North Beach are known for nightlife that’s not always suitable for younger visitors, few neighborhoods in the city exude as much European charm and style. Peruse a bookstore for the literature of Kerouac, Ferlinghetti and Ginsberg, grab some gelato and head to Washington Square for a perfect afternoon of people watching. Just east of North Beach, the hills and staircases of Telegraph Hill are a unique delight. At its peak, the art deco Coit Tower provides sweeping panoramic views of the bay and city. The beautifully landscaped Filbert Street Steps, a street too steep for a roadway, rewards those willing to hike uphill. Keep your ears open and you might even hear the squawk of the wild parrots who call this neighborhood home.
