The pizza and atmosphere is top notch. What a great concept- their menu offers pizza from different areas of the world. Sticking to the style of cooking and Ingredients. We had the New Yorker!! Soo good! And a Margherita, the tomatoes were so delicious on this sauce.

Great pizza in San Francisco mid-town area. Select from a myriad of pizza styles: Neapolitan, Sicilian, Californian, Detroit, etc. etc. Also great meatball appetizers. Nice atmosphere for family dining. Bit of a long wait (just over an hour) but again this is San Francisco, and long waits for good food are de rigeur. Worth an hour wait to be seated... More

The “Slice House,” a hole-in-the-wall joint affiliated with & next to Tony’s Pizza Napoletana on Stockton St., is our favorite pizza stop in SF, so we thought we’d give Tony’s the restaurant a try & order a couple of non-pizza dishes. Huge mistake: we should have stuck with pizza (which looked very good, BTW). Our main orders (carbonara & a... More

My wife and I had the coal fired New Yorker pizza at Tony's and it was amazing. Everything from the dough to the flavorful sauce and prime toppings on the pizza came together to become the best pizza we've had in the U.S. On the other hand the wait(90-120min) was atrocious and what made us almost leave was how host/manager... Stopped by Tonys for a late dinner and had some of the best pizza we have had a for some time. However you like your pizza, Tonys had something to offer. I would highly recommend Tonys.

We went tonight for a meal, the wait was about an hour so we sat at the bar & had a few drinks. We went to our table the waitress was very helpful. Amazing food, the atmosphere is great & all the staff are friendly & hepful. We also tried the cocktails they too were very nice & a it... More

I travel a lot and I eat at a lot of different restaurants. I love pizza and my wife and I are always on a quest to find the perfect pizza. We found it! We happened onto Tony's while walking from Pier 39 through North Beach. From the minute we walked in, it was awesome. We sat at the bar... More

On thier reputation, we waited for almost tow hours for a table. It almost appeared we were passed over to the preferred locals whether that is true or not we will never know. The pizza was good for sure but I have had much better. Our server did a great job but the wait and the price dose not compel... More

This place was recommended by a friend and I honestly don't know why. Supposedly the pizza has won worldwide awards, but it wasn't for me. We ordered the Margherita pizza and the crust was so thin that it basically fell apart before we could get it to our mouths. We also ordered the garlic bread, but honestly it wasn't anything... I like a pizza now and then but I would have to recommend Tony's to anyone visiting San Francisco. This is not your average Pizza place. There are so many different types/ styles of pizza cooked at different temps. The waiter was excellent and took time to explain the menu and pizzas. You have to wait for a table, but... More

Staying in North Beach / Telegraph Hill

Neighborhood Profile
North Beach / Telegraph Hill
The aroma of freshly roasted coffee beans, the sounds of opera, and the sights of the romantic Italian ristorante come together to create the charming neighborhood of North Beach, once the stomping grounds for the Beatnik Generation. Although parts of North Beach are known for nightlife that’s not always suitable for younger visitors, few neighborhoods in the city exude as much European charm and style. Peruse a bookstore for the literature of Kerouac, Ferlinghetti and Ginsberg, grab some gelato and head to Washington Square for a perfect afternoon of people watching. Just east of North Beach, the hills and staircases of Telegraph Hill are a unique delight. At its peak, the art deco Coit Tower provides sweeping panoramic views of the bay and city. The beautifully landscaped Filbert Street Steps, a street too steep for a roadway, rewards those willing to hike uphill. Keep your ears open and you might even hear the squawk of the wild parrots who call this neighborhood home.
