I really enjoyed my meal here, but unfortunately I won't pay over $200 for a steak, so I didn't try the wagyu :(( However, my filet mignon was indeed mignon. My colleagues steaks (a HUGE T-bone and a wagyu-cross) were equally delicious. It's a bit cheeky to charge me $14 for vegetables/potatoes on top of $60 for a steak, however.... More

We had dinner during our first night in San Francisco. The restaurant was half empty and although the staff was friendly they offered us misleading information about the dishes and our option, let alone that they confused our order. Steak was nice but the portion was not enough. Very expensive for what it has to offer.

a great steak house, very accommodating, great service... just a little pricey and it wasn't the BEST steak I've every had, but it certainly was delicious!

The 5A5 steak lounge had a good selection of Wagyu beef, but I opted for the Filet Mignon, which was brilliant from a taste point of view. However, my medium rare was more of a medium, but since the steak tasted brilliantly regardless I didn't mind too much. What I did not like was the general atmosphere. The restaurant was... More

5A5 have a great assortment of beef that you can choose from. All their meats are really tender and juicy!!! Please note though that you have to order sides as the entrées come with nothing. However, their sides are definitely delicious!!! It's on the high end but if you want a real nice piece of steak, this is the place... More

There food was excellent. The lobster tempura Steak, fries & mash potatoes are THE BOMB. Truffle Mac and cheese also great. Service was a bit weird. The waiters did there best to avoid eye contact. Awesome deserts too

We liked the filete minion and the day soup was great. The wines were over priced. Ambience is modern and different from the traditional steak houses.

Terrible service, fair food, expensive. Better choices in the city. Greater at the door was the worst.

Lovely ambience and very helpful wait staff. However I realised that I was out of my comfort zone both in terms of the classiness of the dining and the expense. There were some ridiculous priced Japanese steaks on the menu - utterly ludicrous. I was not overly happy with my NY strip. I ordered it medium and it came out... More

I had heard of this restaurant from friends, and had the opportunity to stop in and take advantage of the bar-bite menu and a wine. Nice choices and very reasonable priced. I chose the sliders which come with a small tin of sweet potato fries. Nicely prepared with a not cloying aioli, onions and lettuce. Just right for pre-theater. Although... More

Staying in North Beach / Telegraph Hill

Neighborhood Profile
North Beach / Telegraph Hill
The aroma of freshly roasted coffee beans, the sounds of opera, and the sights of the romantic Italian ristorante come together to create the charming neighborhood of North Beach, once the stomping grounds for the Beatnik Generation. Although parts of North Beach are known for nightlife that’s not always suitable for younger visitors, few neighborhoods in the city exude as much European charm and style. Peruse a bookstore for the literature of Kerouac, Ferlinghetti and Ginsberg, grab some gelato and head to Washington Square for a perfect afternoon of people watching. Just east of North Beach, the hills and staircases of Telegraph Hill are a unique delight. At its peak, the art deco Coit Tower provides sweeping panoramic views of the bay and city. The beautifully landscaped Filbert Street Steps, a street too steep for a roadway, rewards those willing to hike uphill. Keep your ears open and you might even hear the squawk of the wild parrots who call this neighborhood home.
