My wife and I are from the East Bay. We finally got to try the Slanted Door, while on a quick city trip. We didn't have a reservation and so were seated in the bar by the exit door. I certainly appreciate the general seating though, with the expansive views. Also the location is obvious excellent. The food was fine,... More

Went today, had a lovely meal but somewhat guided by the waitress who suggested dishes for us; all were so sweet. The starters were divine but don't order the chicken clay pot unless you like excessively sweet gristly chicken. Little disappointing as we had food envy of everyone around us! Would return again but trust our own instincts and go... More

After work dinner with colleagues. Good environment to unwind and enjoy the evening. We chose a few dishes and shared. We were not disappointed.

My daughter lives in nearby Oakland and we wanted lunch before I had to go back to the airport. I was craving Oysters and we wanted to go to Hog Island Oyster Co., but the were packed. We looked at the restaurant next door and found that this restaurant offers oysters as well. The place was packed partially due to... More

Have long been a fan of the Slated Door, long before relocating to the Ferry Building. Food this time was good, but lacked its 'sizzle.' Prices were off the charts (>$40 for their relatively small signature Shaking Beef dish). Hostess was indifferent as to whether we endured the 45 minute wait and table service verged on arrogant. Still a great... More

A selection of unique cocktails kept our interest, while waiting for the dining area to open. I suggest opening the dining area sooner, because we were visiting from the central time zone, which means we were 2 hours late for dinner! Still, our meal was fabulous.

When it comes to ethnic food, most of the time authentic ethnic food is the only standard to base on. However, with the fantastic and well selective Americanized Vietnamese food, Slanted Door wins this time. Born and grew up in Vietnam, spent many years eating all the authentic and new styles of Vietnamese food, I must agree that Slanted Door... More

Occasionally visit Slanted Door, but very hard to get rezzies. Met friend at Ferry Building early for birthday lunch, and happened to walk by Slanted Door—I thought ‘oh-well, at least I can ask’. What a great surprise!! They seated us and we had a typical Slanted Door perfect lunch! Had the caramelized catfish claypot and wood oven roasted arctic char—both... More
