This isn't a typical restaurant. Customers place their order and then take a number and wait for the food to be served. Salsa is kept insde at a counter and customers serve themselves. I noticed the total cost for our lunch was too low. I was only charged for a taco instead of what I actually ordered. We explained what... More

We had dinner, luckily with reservations, because the next day, we saw a lunch line out the door! Dark, romantic, super authentic and filling food (nopalito enchiladas). They were out of darjeeling iced tea, but huge margaritas and three types of salsa. I'd go back for sure! There's a pretty reasonable parking structure if you need one across the street.... More

We liked the atmosphere of the restaurant although it was quite loud and made discussion difficult. The margaritas were very average and I wish I had ordered a beer. The Carne asada (maybe they called it a tampiqueno) was a disappointment because the meat was quite tough. I eat this in restaurants around the country and it has to be... More

Tasty enchiladas and chips. Very good guacamole and salsas. Quite busy so you have to wait in line for a bit. Service was good.

It's pretty noisy but amicable. We arrived a few minutes early for our :45 reservation and after the hostess took names of several parties without reservations, she seated us right away. Our waiter approached us immediately, offering menus, libations, etc. We decided to order our drinks and food at the same time, thinking this might speed our service a tad... More

We came to this place based on all the wonderful reviews. Everything we read about we didn't experience. The table we had was super small. I had to scoot through and almost know the table next to us drinks off. I couldn't pull my chair out all the way without hitting the person sitting behind me. We ordered margaritas and... More

I had higher hopes for the food but it was just "ok". I had the chili relleno which I enjoyed but my wife's shrimp tacos were kinda average. They really rush you to order and eat so if you think you're coming here to have a relaxing meal...you won't. However; I would come back because I think we might of... More

We love Mexican food. From the reviews here and the crowd in the restaurant, we were expecting to be pleased. We were not. I should have known better when I walked in and was taken back by the air fresher scent in the lobby. Strange and irritating to the sinuses. The bar staff have no personality. The chicken soup was... We had the Tampiqueño and the Huaraches "tres Cochinitas" and both were excellent. The complimentary chips & salsas at the beginning were impossible to resist! Our server was fantastic- after finding out they were out of Sol, she made some recommendations and even got me a tasting of a beer so I could be sure I would like it.

Authentic taste on great food. Well cooked in a cozy yet hectic mexican environment. Nice staff, would recommend anyone this place. Best was The lollipop in the end 😊👍

Staying in SoMa

Neighborhood Profile
South of Market (SoMa), has an urban and sophisticated vibe, but you're more likely to find big nightclubs and lots of industrial loft residences than you are to find boutique shopping. Although it’s the epicenter for tech startups in the city, visitors will be able to do more than just business - museums, top quality restaurants, and the San Francisco Giants now call this neighborhood home. Most of its freeway-sized streets may not capture the same character as other neighborhoods in the city, but pockets of charm, like South Park, can still be found throughout its side streets.
