This was a lark, as we were passing by and decided to see if we could get a table. It was definitely worth the gamble. Our waiter Enrique was engaging, humorous and very helpful. The atmosphere was very nice, but not stuffy. The Cholito is a cocktail I highly recommend. The Cebiche Nikei was a wonderful start and the Pescado... More

The Cebiche was delicious---my husband and I each tried a different one and sampled each others. He also got paiche (Amazon river fish) and I had a pollo anticucho. Both of these were delicious as well. There was a pisco party going on outdoors, but staffing was more than adequate for inside patrons. Acoustics were a little lacking, but it... More

As someone that ate twice in a 5 days visit to Lima in La Mar I was happy to find this restaurant in SF. we came here after a day trip in Napa so we had a light dinner. Tiradito. Classic ceviche. Causa. The Peruvian salmon version of sushi. Empanadas with shrimps and one limo saltado a Peruvian must for... More

In a giant renovated pier on the Embarcadero. this restaurant—part of a "chain" of five others in big cities around the world shows off how elegant Ecuadorian food can be. Half the menu shows off raw items with traditional ceviche in a half dozen styles and fish samplings that work like sushi, The fish is pristine. The other half of... More

La Mar serves just amazing cebiche. The Classico, made with halibut in a leche de Tigre dressing is the best that I have ever tasted. The dinner entrees are also very good. The service is excellent and our server, having been to Peru, as we had, shared stories about food that he and we encountered in Peru. My only complaint... More

We walked in to a friendly staff willing to make our experience special. Everyone wanted to share with us what made their food special and recommend options. We loved everything that came to the table. The cebiches were all distinct and flavorful. The empanadas were crusty and filled to perfection. And the hot sauce was terrific. It was lively and... Nice location on the waterfront. We had the tasting platter of different ceviches and our friends tried some vegetarian dishes. The fish was superfresh and the ceviche the best we had outside Peru (and we have tried in many many places). Everybody left happy

I went here on my own for lunch yesterday. It's just to the left of the SF Pier clock tower and it is quite a large size establishment. From the first person I saw at the door to everyone who served me food or drinks, brought my bill, or just passed by, everyone was attentive, polite, and professional. The menu... More
