The food was average but the environment was good. Same for the staff. The hollandaise sauce on the eggs Benedict was not good

We visited Pat's cafe on the recommendation of the local bike shop. We had to wait around 20 mins for a table but it was worth the wait. I had the breakfast burrito (with chorizo) which came with home fries - delicious. My son had the pancakes which were fluffy and light - again delicious. A very well run cafe.

The cafe's location is qiet nice just next to a cable car line but also good accessible by bus if the queue is too long for getting here by cable car. The breakfast options are almost endless and the portions very big. There are good vegeterian options as well. Prices are very fair and I'd say in the normal price... More

Cafe frequented mostly by locals. Full service, interesting menu. Good food, homey, good selection of non-meat items. Well away from all the tourist stuff along the waterfront. Excellent for breakfast.

So glad we found Pat's, a hidden gem just around the corner from our hotel 'The San Remo' Had breakfast there for the 3 days we were in SF - excellent sized portions, well cooked & as usual endless coffee, also very friendly & efficient staff. Loved the decor especially the photos on the wall of Pat's cats. Would definitely... More

Visited for early breakfast, staff friendly, prices reasonable (for San Fran) food was delicious, polk omelette especially good. Well worth seeking out if going to Pier area, as far cheaper than Pier prices and not far away.

Overpriced for a simple breakfast but San Francisco is notoriously expensive. Service was not very friendly but was prompt.

We were planning on having lunch at Pat's but it was too crowded and we didn't have enough time to wait. We said we'd try it the next day when we had more time. We did and lad we did. There was still a wait but well worth it. The servers were attentive with no shortage of coffee refills. In... More

Had a great breakfast here, very reasonable prices, cute place with great service. The pancakes are to die for; very fluffy and not overcooked -- a must try.

Staying in North Beach / Telegraph Hill

Neighborhood Profile
North Beach / Telegraph Hill
The aroma of freshly roasted coffee beans, the sounds of opera, and the sights of the romantic Italian ristorante come together to create the charming neighborhood of North Beach, once the stomping grounds for the Beatnik Generation. Although parts of North Beach are known for nightlife that’s not always suitable for younger visitors, few neighborhoods in the city exude as much European charm and style. Peruse a bookstore for the literature of Kerouac, Ferlinghetti and Ginsberg, grab some gelato and head to Washington Square for a perfect afternoon of people watching. Just east of North Beach, the hills and staircases of Telegraph Hill are a unique delight. At its peak, the art deco Coit Tower provides sweeping panoramic views of the bay and city. The beautifully landscaped Filbert Street Steps, a street too steep for a roadway, rewards those willing to hike uphill. Keep your ears open and you might even hear the squawk of the wild parrots who call this neighborhood home.
