The views from this location are hard to beat. Lines are long so I'd recommend reserving, but worth the wait to see that sunset! You can also sit on the grass at the front, it's the sister restaurant (I forget the name). The food is nice, not the best I've had in Bar Harbour and I think a little overpriced.... More

My husband and I enjoyed a lovely anniversary dinner at the Reading Room. Because it was an anniversary, I asked for a water view, but all the tables seemed very pleasant. The evening we were there, a musician played lovely and lively songs. He even asked for a request from us, which he very gamely played even though it was... More

Our favorite restaurant in Bar Harbor for over 20 years. The view, the lobster, the evening piano music always satisfies and makes us want to return summer after summer!

Just got home yesterday from a lovely, relaxing vacation. Bar Harbor Inn was a lovely experience with beautiful scenery, not to mention the free cookies in the lobby! The hotel room was lovely, with a convenient back exit/entrance to and from my hotel room. Wednesday, I was able to experience a cooking demonstration from Chef Louis Kiefer, which was informative... We ate breakfast and dinner every day at the Reading Room Restaurant. The water views from the dining tables are breath taking. The food is superb. The Chef even has a wonderful vegetarian option on the menu that one of our children loved. The Seafood is amazing. Would highly recommend due to the high quality of service and the kindness... We visit the Reading Room and or the pub several times a month. Have always found the food to great, the friendly staff makes the occasion very enjoyable. From the time you enter the Reading Room and greeted by the host who always seems to know you and placed at a very diserable table with one of the greatest views... More

We had a really nice dinner at this place and sometimes with venues like this you are not quite sure. This was class, loved the piano playing in the background (very good) and the view on a summer evening was perfect. We enjoyed all phases of our meal and would say that what we ordered is what we got and... More

I hate to be harsh on this place, because it's somewhat of an institution, but we left very disappointed. First, the good points...it has a lovely view of the harbor (our table view was through an aged stained plastic window cover), it is a fairly elegant setting (although there were plenty of under-dressed customers) and there's valet parking (although I... My husband and I had dinner there as part of a package we purchased with our hotel. We sat at a window seat and had a beautiful water view. As we dined there was live piano music. The meal was top notch. We started out with the clam chowder which was yummy. I had the filet minion with the lobster... More
