A good place to eat if you're on a budget. Nice food and pleasant staff. The menu is fairly broad with lots of seafood. Central position in Bar Harbor.

Girlfriend really liked her burger and salad, my haddock sandwich was okay, lobster bisque was tasty but could have had a bit more lobster.

I ate at the bar as there was a 30 minute wait for a table. I ordered the Lobster Bisque and fish n chips. Both were pretty good but nothing extraordinary. My Lemon Basil Gimlet drink was delicious. Service was slow, I had to ask for my food after waiting a long time, which the bartender then ran outback to... More

Went to the Thirsty Whale on July 25th following a Kayak Trip. This place has a fun casual vibe with a nice menu. I had the New England Clam Chowder which was rich and full of seafood as well as Lobster Roll. Both were very tasty. My hubby had a salmon sandwich which he enjoyed as well Would go again... More

Thirsty Whale was recommended to us by the Mira Monte Inn on our first night in Bar Harbor and it didn't disappoint. Not fancy but had the best food. I ate a lobster roll every night I was in Bar Harbor and this was the best.

Each year that I visit Bar Harbor, I make time for at least one meal at the Thirsty Whale. Their light meals are always delicious, the bartenders know their stuff, and the atmosphere is friendly and comfortable. Sometimes there is a bit of a wait, but I've never been sorry that I stayed. I've not had a bad meal yet,... More

We ate there on a Tuesday night. They said 1/2 hour for table but we were seated in 10 minutes. All of the staff was friendly and made us feel welcome. The food was excellent. I would highly recommend the Thristy Whale for a home town experience.

The food was average, the temperature was HOT! There were so many flies that I wanted to take my flip flop off and start smacking them. Our waitress was nice. The food came out fast but was still only average.

This tavern has excellent food and large portions. The bartenders are friendly and the prices are good. There is usually a wait because it's well liked. I had the salmon sandwich and loved it and also had the fish and chips which were excellent. Highly recommend eating here!

Wish we had found this place sooner! This was one of the few restaurants in town with pleasant staff, a cozy and uncrowded ambiance, but above all fantastic food for a reasonable price. Their breakfast / brunch menu is versatile enough to appeal to any eater, options for vegetarians and meat-lovers. The food was fresh, wholesome, and all of our... More
