After three previous dinners, we were ready for a quieter evening. We tried to make reservations at Black Friar Pub and had serious technical difficulties. However, we were attracted to the place and wandered by around 7:30 on a weeknight and had no issues getting in. The building is a maze of little rooms with lots of wood. We were... More

Excallan food, charming, but tucked away. It is well worth looking for. The staff is engaging, friendly, and personable.

Small Quaint restaurant/ B&B. Food we had for dinner and breakfast were excellent. I had the rosemary skewered scallops and my wife . had a spiced seafood combo special. Scallops were the best we have ever had. For breakfast the blueberry pancakes require no more than a fork to eat. No syrup needed. The staff and cooks all very friendly.... More

The menu caught our attention so we decided to try it. The dining room and bar are quaint and tastefully decorated. You can see right into the kitchen. The haddock francaise was excellent and the drunken burger was a real treat. Everything was very well prepared and tasty including the soups and sides. Definitely a step above most of the... More

My waitress was a little hurried and was working alone. Very small dinning room. Food is a little above average and priced OK.

We were looking for a quieter place that offered comfort food. This place was smaller than we expected -- we ate in the bar area. Menu was a bit limited, but the food was good. The entertainer, Bobbi Layne from nearby Trenton, was very welcoming.

Stopped in for dinner one night while in Bar Harbor. Bar Harbor was packed, so I was a little surprised to find the dining area nearly empty when we arrived. I ordered one of the Drunken Burgers and found it to be overly salty and the burgers (two of them on the sandwich) very "rubbery." All the meals were advertised... More

We have been living off of trip advisor this week and have not been disappointed. We had a party of 5 who arrived at a variety of times, and they were great about serving everyone at the right time.

We stumbled upon this place and were glad we did. The dining room was cozy, as each of the rooms in the old house held no more than 4 tables. The service was attentive and the burgers were delicious. The kids particularly enjoyed the wine bottle candles of various colors.

Search out this pub for a truly fabulous meal and excellent service! The beer and wine list is wonderful, and the dining selections are great. We started with Caesar salads which were fresh and nicely dressed. The rolls that preceded the salads were fresh and warm. It was difficult to make a decision for entrees as everything sounded delicious. We... More
