When I travel, I typically try as many different restaurants as I can. However, when we tried Side Street Café, we were hooked. While we tried a lot of different dishes, we quickly became loyal followers of the lobster stew. It is like liquid gold. This restaurant can become very busy. Be sure to go early. If cruse ships are... More

We popped in here for lunch because downtown Bar Harbor was (is) a zoo. Located on a quiet back street, it was away from the crowds...which is not to say the place was deserted; it was not. Side Street Cafe is popular because it's good and we had a little wait for a table. BUT...we snagged two seats out on... More

Stopped here on a road trip last summer. We both tried lobster rolls, and I got a seasonal blueberry ale from Appalachian brewing co. All of it was wonderful! The service and high tables were great. The food came quick, and it was delicious!! They had outdoor seating too, which if available would have been lovely on that sunny day.

The lobster lunch was delicious!!! The blueberry pie a la mode was the best blueberry pie I have ever tasted...not too sweet but bursting with fruity blueberry!!!

This was one of our more expensive meals of the trip, but delicious food and excellent service. They have a variety of build-your-own burgers and mac and cheese plates. The lobster mac and cheese is apparently endorsed by Paula Dean.

Stopped bye for a late lunch. Based on the server's recommendation, I ordered a half serving of "Jeff's Mac & Cheese" and was not disappointed! Served in a large bowl (could not have finished a full order), the small pasta shells were done to perfection, not soft but not quite al dente either, with a tasty cheese and cream sauce.... More
