I had the combo plate with the beef, kalua pig, smoked meat, mac and white rice. The food overall was really good but found the beef to be on the tougher side. The pig was a bit on the salty side, not so much though...that you couldn't enjoy it. Overall I was pleased, but with so many hawaiian food restaurants arround can't say this was my favorite, sorry.More

If you are a tourist and have a craving for all the local dish you have read in a foodies blog, you can find it all here at the Highway Inn, The lau lau with the squid being our favorite, the loco moco, the chicken...long rice, there was not one dish that was a disappointment and the price beats all the other place we visited this tripMore

This little restaurant is charming. The wait help young and efficient. However, their website has to be updated to show the correct location. My friend and I got different results trying to Google the location. We were having a late lunch so there was no...crowd. We were seated and placed our order. My friend had the local beef stew and rice. I had the combo plate with laulau, poi, lomi salmon, Pipikaula and haupia. Shared my plate and there was still leftovers. Everything was delish. For a taste of good ole Hawaiian food, Highway Inn is a must. So Ono! (Yummy)More

We were very lucky to be the last family in the door to eat at the old location of Highway Inn before it moved to the new location in Waipahu. The food was excellent as usual as we decided to have all the popular favorites,...pork lau lau, kalua pig, poi, lomi lomi salmon, haupia, etc. Was soooooo ono! It's always fun to get the food in the compartment tray. We all start talking about the old days when our school cafeteria used to use those trays. The restaurant is decorated with all the pictures of older Hawaii so you can feel a bit nostalgic as you eat Hawaiian food. I'm sure the new location will be the same or even better. Can't wait to try that one out next.More

It was worth the 30 minute wait on the Thursday at 1pm during the school holidays. A lot of locals eating here at their move to their new location. The parking is a bit difficult. Awesome food and service with very generous helpings. I highly...recommend the combination plates with the sides of the big bowl of poi, pipikaula, lomi salmon and haupia. The pork lau lau and kalua pig plates were awesome.More

We enjoyed the meal. Looks like they're moving location. Good variety of dishes. They had poi. We went early. They are open for breakfast but we wanted Hawaiian food in Waipahu.

My Mom and I dined here on Dec 1, 2019 (lunch). We were happy to have dined here one last time before they close later this month (for their new location). Lunch was delicious, service was friendly and very attentive (our waiter was Lucille). We...look forward to checking out the new location the next time we visit the islands. Highly recommend.More

Saw this restaurant on Triple-D and since we've always had success going to places on the show, we knew we'd enjoy the food here. And we did. Truly authentic Hawaiian food that was plentiful and very, very good. The wait staff were all very friendly...and it was a relaxed atmosphere. As others have stated, the location is dodgy but don't be concerned. The upside is the excellent meal you will get at a reasonable (for Hawaii) price.More

On a trip to Oahu, we were looking for an authentic Hawaiian dining experience. After doing our research, we settled on Highway Inn, a family-owned restaurant dating back to 1947. We visited the Waipahu location, where the food lived up to the many commendations lining...the walls. I ordered the pork lau lau, which was served with potato-mac salad, rice, pipikaula, and haupia. Haupia is generally a little bland for my taste, but both the pork lau lau and pipikaula were insanely delicious. Meat lovers, you will rejoice! The whole dinner was reasonably priced at $15.95. My only (minor) disappointment was that the taro leaves weren't tied on the lau lau (see Highway Inn's website for a picture of what I was expecting) but instead tucked underneath. Finally, fair warning: the strip mall where this restaurant is located is on the seedy side. This does not in any way reflect on the environment or atmosphere inside Highway Inn. Don't let the outside scare you away!More

We had some friends visiting the island and wanted to bring them somewhere they could get authentic Hawaiian grinds. Highway Inn is one of the top rated restaurants in our area and their menu was exactly what we were looking for. We arrived at 1730...and were able to walk in and get a party of 9 seated with no problem - 30 minutes later there was a line out the door. The restaurant is nothing to write home about. Nothing fancy and maybe even on the run-down side of things. The service was good and our glasses remained full most of the time. The food, the food was amazing! Everything we ordered was absolutely delicious and we have already talked about coming back for a second round.More

I was in search of some local food while visiting O'ahu and this place is it. I had the laulau plate with lomi lomi salmon, fried rice and haupia and it soothed my hunger for some Hawaiian food. The service was great and extremely busy...for a Saturday night. Thank goodness we made reservations. I definitely recommend this place.More

Went for an early dinner with the family. At 5 PM on a Saturday there was plenty of parking and no wait for a table. We ordered a kahlua pork quesadilla, beef stew/long rice combo and kahlua pork/smoked meat combo. Everything was delicious. Highly recommend!
