We were very lucky to be the last family in the door to eat at the old location of Highway Inn before it moved to the new location in Waipahu. The food was excellent as usual as we decided to have all the popular favorites, pork lau lau, kalua pig, poi, lomi lomi salmon, haupia, etc. Was soooooo ono! It's always fun to get the food in the compartment tray. We all start talking about the old days when our school cafeteria used to use those trays. The restaurant is decorated with all the pictures of older Hawaii so you can feel a bit nostalgic as you eat Hawaiian food. I'm sure the new location will be the same or even better. Can't wait to try that one out next.

It was worth the 30 minute wait on the Thursday at 1pm during the school holidays. A lot of locals eating here at their move to their new location. The parking is a bit difficult. Awesome food and service with very generous helpings. I highly recommend the combination plates with the sides of the big bowl of poi, pipikaula, lomi salmon and haupia. The pork lau lau and kalua pig plates were awesome.

If you want to enjoy authentic Polynesian / Hawaiian food in s relaxed atmosphere with reasonable prices, this is your place. I highly recommend the Highway Inn Tasting Plate and having someone with you to share this large amount of food with. It includes many staples of the island It’s like having your own personal Polynesian buffet.

I had the combo plate with the beef, kalua pig, smoked meat, mac and white rice. The food overall was really good but found the beef to be on the tougher side. The pig was a bit on the salty side, not so much though that you couldn't enjoy it. Overall I was pleased, but with so many hawaiian food restaurants arround can't say this was my favorite, sorry.

Grrrr. As Austin powers said. Groooovy baby. We went mid afternoon after trip pearl harbor so crowds not so bad. Recommended by a lovely native who suggested when I said “ how the @&$) do I get out of Waikiki and get some Hawaiin food”!! Ask and he shall receive. Fantastic menu, fish, pork, collars, chicken, even breakfast. Son and I went for pork luau with extra butterfish collars. All I can say as a Texas boy was like soul food Hawaiian style. Best compliment I can pay. Awesome food well Cooked and tasty — best part staff and waitress so cool. Wife sipping mai tai starting taking with her as evening customers came — I had to rip her from her new buddy ( who got selfie of us all). Go with the right attitude to blend in and make friends. Your soul will be nourished. Don’t and we’ll —-stay at Waikiki anyway with your steakhouse —but your missing the best meal I had in Honolulu served with love. My wife and I loved it. Mahalo ladies!

I was craving Hawaiian food on my visit home to Oahu, and came straight to Highway Inn! We came on a Thursday morning around 11am and it wasn't too busy yet. The parking was limited outside so give yourself some time to find parking. The ambiance was welcoming! I ordered the Hawaiian Plate which had laulau, kalua pork, poi, lomi salmon, squid luau, and haupia. Everything my heart desired! My friend treated, but the plate was less than $40. The service was a little slow, but nonetheless got what I was craving for! 😊 8/10. Happy Eats ✌️

The Highway Inn was recommended by a friend from Kapolei. The food was good and the prices here reasonable. The Machiko fried chicken was a favorite and I’d highly recommend it. Good family friendly atmosphere and friendly staff. It’s near the H1 and H2 interchange.

Looking for a good salad dinner and found a great Hawaiian original. I had an outstanding salad with Mahi Mahi on top. It was low calorie and delicious. Saw lots of great original native Hawaiian fare I will check out on future visits when I am not on mybsteuct diet. All the staff were friendly, welcoming, and laid back. This should be a must visit location for locals and visitors.

This place was very nice for a diner. We were a family of 4. We were seated quickly and the staff was very attentive. My husband had ordered the fried chicken dinner. I had the yakisoba fried noodles with spam, my mom ordered the pulled pork sliders (huge) and my son had the hamburger and fries. Everyone really enjoyed their meals. Meats were juicy and well seasoned. My noodles were excellent. The spam was not overly salty and sliced thin. The diner was clean and the bathrooms were clean. I highly recommend this place.

We came here based on a local's recommendation and were not disappointed. Holy crap this place was amazing. I got the pork lau lau and it was insanely food. The Hawaiian fried rice was to die for. The beef was soooo good. I really cannot get over how delicious the food was. You just have to go here!

This little restaurant is charming. The wait help young and efficient. However, their website has to be updated to show the correct location. My friend and I got different results trying to Google the location. We were having a late lunch so there was no crowd. We were seated and placed our order. My friend had the local beef stew and rice. I had the combo plate with laulau, poi, lomi salmon, Pipikaula and haupia. Shared my plate and there was still leftovers. Everything was delish. For a taste of good ole Hawaiian food, Highway Inn is a must. So Ono! (Yummy)

We are puzzled about the website comment as we updated the website in real time on the day of our move as well as delivery sites and all Social Media media sites (Only Trip advisor refuses to accept the address update) and directory listings we changed contemporaneously. Our Web consultant says it could be that be data cached on the end-user's computer.

Food ono. Pulehu Chicken real good. Hawaiian food is ono too. Was surprised by Kitchen Surcharge of 5% which is not mentioned or listed on the menu. 18% for party of 6 or more. Tip not a problem cause I usually tip that.

Sorry you did not see the surcharge mentioned on the menu. It is there. Note the surcharge is to ensure Kitchen Staff can legally participate in 'tips' which are by law the property of the server. We also state that 10% starting tip is acceptable. The 18% is for 6 or more because more often than not when groups come the tip kind of gets forgotten about.

Our local family took us here. Everything was delicious! I got a platter with lots of variety (forgot the name of it). The place was nice & clean. I’d definitely go back when visiting the area.

Avoid. The meat was burned, the soup cold, the poi sour. Plus I was overcharged after a pushy waiter argued the price. Stick with other better restaurants in the area.
