If you want to try local food you can't go wrong at one of Oahu's original, family-owned restaurants. Any of the local plates are delicious, and you can get an authentic taste of local favorites like kalua pig, lomi lomi salmon, poi, chicken long rice , pipikaula and okinawan sweet potatoes. My personal favorite is the squid luau, The dining... More

The quesadilla and beef stew were awesome. The fresh sesame poke was a great appetizer. Authentic and local. A must try.

The service left a lot to be desired, but our server may have just had a bad day. My lau lau plate was fabulous, but my cousin's Portuguese sausage and pancake was greasy and gross. Dad loved his loco moco and friend loved her poke bowl. Will give them another try.

Craving traditional Hawaiian food we asked a local clerk where we could find a place in Waipahu. She w/o hesitation recommended the Awaiian Inn. The restaurant did not disappoint. My wife ordered a Hawaiian plate and I ordered a tripe stew. The meals came on old school cafeteria trays. The lau laus were plump and the lomi lomi was delicious.... More

Loved sitting in this casual restaurant-ended up chatting at length with locals at the next table! Tried Na'au pua'a for the first time-has a distinct flavor! Combo plate meals were delicious~enjoyed kahlua pork and lau lau and pipikaula. The haupia dessert was a great finish. We ate at the Honolulu location last year, and all the food is delicious.

This restaurant was featured on Diners, Drive-Ins, and Dives, so we decided to give it a try. Located in a strip with easy parking. Authentic Hawaiian food, Lau Lau was the best that we have had, and I don't like pork, but this was the most delicious and the servings were huge. The staff are very friendly and the service... The restaurant is in a strip mall and looks basic from the outside but the food was quite good. I had the kalua pig sliders that came on a taro sweet potato bun and had onions, bell peppers and Hawaiian chili aioli. The meat was moist and very tasty. The subtle sweetness of the bun complemented the meat. Service was... More

I visited the Highway Inn at the recommendation of a friend; it has a varied menu with a good range of Hawaiian favourites.
