The restaurant is very crowded and there is little space to eat in.
I got a half-size portion to take away and heated it up at the hotel.
It was very soft and delicious.
The price is also reasonable, which is very helpful with prices and the yen rising sharply.

So I was in the mood for some Chicken so I found this place and decided to give it a try.. As soon as I walked in I was greeted by the friendly staff with a welcome and probably a smile, couldn’t tell because they were all wearing masks 😊 We chose the 1/2 chicken with fires and a Coke.. you get your choice of dipping sauce for your chicken, but in my opinion the chicken was perfect just the way it was made, great taste and perfectly seasoned. We loved it so much we made the hour drive for more chicken two days later😊..You can’t go wrong for 1/2 chicken, a side and a drink for around $12.. Mahalo, guys keep up the great work there.. when and if I go back to the beautiful Island of Oahu, I know where to get the best Roasted Chicken on the island 😬 oh yeah I also tried the OTHER Famous chicken place and I have to say it was just OK..

I saw reviews on this and we decided to stop on our way to Dole Plantation from Manoa Falls. So glad we did! A number of military from a training base nearby were also standing in line with us, so I felt we must have made a good decision.
We had the special of the day which was BBQ shredded chicken (sweet sauce) with coleslaw on top and fries. My husband didn't like the coleslaw on top of the chicken but I thought it made the sandwich even better. This is a small place with no seating and there is limited parking. We lucked out and had a parking spot and just ate in the car.
I would definitely come back here again!

Maui Mikes is in a strip mall and you will miss it if you drive by too quickly. But it has great fresh chicken sandwiches (never frozen chicken), yummy sauces with good sides (fries, slaw, beans etc.) Portions are large for a good price. Free refills as well. Definitely a good deal.

We were on the island for vacation and were looking for a local restaurant to get a quick bite to eat. Maui Mike’s has the best roasted chicken I have ever eaten! The flavor was outstanding and it was perfectly cooked!!
The customer service and atmosphere was also amazing. I highly recommend making this a priority if you are near one of their locations!!

Fantastic lunch and extremely well priced. Pretty sad eat in space, but at least there is a place to sit. Ideally get “Take out”. Parking extremely limited as it is on a corner of a Main Street in town….but still worth stopping. Other fast food near by…but this is soooo…much better.

Conversation between me & the manager of Maui Mikes Wahiawa
Me: Hi there my daughter wants to eat your chicken but I have to ask what is in your chicken or what food touches it to make sure she will be safe eating it due to her food allergies
Manager: What is she allergic to - give me to list.
Me: [I tell him the list of my daughter’s confirmed food allergies - soy, tree nuts, eggs, milk, etc. ]
Manager:
Nope, not in there. Nope. Nope. Nope. You’re good to go! You can eat it!
Me: My daughter has foods that she’s safe eating, foods she’s eaten before without having an allergic reaction. So if your chicken contains a food she has never tried I won’t be able to give it to her as she could have a fatal reaction - even if it has none of her confirmed allergens in it. Can you PLEASE tell me what is in the chicken?
Manager: (Raises his voice)
It is against the law to serve food to someone who has such a long list of food allergies
Me: it’s against the law?! There’s a law?
Manager: (tries to cover his lie) my attorney would tell me not to serve someone like your daughter. We use soybean oil (soy is one of my child’s allergens) so if something happens to your daughter that would be on you because you are her mother, so it’s YOUR JOB to take responsibility for your daughter [he laughs loudly after making his comment as if this was a joke]
Me: so you won’t tell me the ingredients for your chicken. Wonderful…
— takeaway’s from my chat with this rambunctious Manager:
- He lies to his customers: in the first part of our call he literally said “you are good to go! You can eat the chicken” upon hearing the list of allergens.. shortly after, he goes against his own statement by saying they serve the stated allergens so whatever happens he’s guilty of nothing.. so we’re NOT actually good to go. he lied to make $ on a serving of chicken knowing very well that the chances of cross contact and contamination of food is very likely at the establishment
- He makes up the law: “it is against the law to serve food to someone who has such a long list of food allergies” — not true; honest, transparent and quality eateries have successfully and joyfully served my child food from their kitchen. NEVER has there been a law that prevented a food establishment from serving someone because they have allergies. MM manager, if you’re reading this fact check that with your attorney. Also ask your attorney what they thought about your discriminatory remarks. 33 million people in the world live with food allergies, and it’s a disease.
- He seems quite toxic. How the staff cowered at the mention of him.. I asked if they could tell me what was in the chicken they said salt and they couldn’t share more. then they offered to call the manager; when they got in touch with him he rebuked them for the call & the employee promptly apologized (it perplexed me they had no reason to be apologizing)
Hey, Manager of Maui Mike— I have some advice for you as someone who worked 10 yrs in legal & lived 3+ years as a food allergy mom: On behalf of the food allergy community, a made up food allergy “law” to benefit your business coupled with your laughing amidst this serious conversation shows me that you could use quite a few pointers to be a better manager & better person:
1. It is great to grow in awareness and professionalism— food allergies are a laughing matter for you now… Until you live with the reality that a crumb of the wrong food can take your life (& yes anyone can develop a life threatening food allergy over night) or a loved one’s - you have no room to be using it as humor
2. Learn from good people like Keith Norman, professional chef & FAACT board of directors, “an allergen guest is not an inconvenience or interruption of service, but rather a humbling opportunity to change a LIFE”
3. Don’t tell a mom (especially a food allergy mom) what her job is… especially when you’re not good at your own. For the record, I WAS doing my job by asking you what is in the food you serve. You simply failed to meet me where all other food businesses have succeeded.
Maui Mike’s hiring committee, your about page states that your “hard-workin' people-lovin' Crew Members are totally dedicated to your satisfaction. They strive for excellence.” Your manager in Wahiawa missed the mark of excellence by a long shot. Perhaps check in with the crew members - see how they feel about having a manager like this?
Those with food allergies or even 1 food allergy, celiac, food sensitivity, or intolerance I would recommend you stay far away from this establishment. Management does not strive for food safety but delights in ridiculing others those who seek transparency

My husband got the chicken BBQ bacon sandwich and he loved it. I got the Roasted chicken and it was SO good and tender. I highly recommend this place!!

Maui Mike's has some of the best chicken on the island. Generous portions at a very reasonable price. Not much room to eat at the restaurant, so you might to take your food to go.
