The cocktails are great - I really enjoyed the spicy margarita with jalapeno, cilantro, and cucumber, The food is tasty and the menu has flavours from Chile, Peru, and even Mexico. All in all it was a surprise to find quite an adventurous restaurant in Kailua, where most fare is pretty basic. All the ingredients are fresh and locally sourced,... More

We came for Sunday lunch. The staff seemed overwhelmed at first -- after sitting around for 5 minutes we went to fetch menus for ourselves -- but service improved as other groups departed. The chef has a creative and constantly changing menu with dishes from Argentina to Cuba via Peru, using local ingredients. Boar empanadas, for example. We tried a... More

Cactus has become one of our Kailua favorites! They serve a nice variety of Latin-American style cuisine that is enhanced with Aloha, using local meats, fish and produce. The staff is friendly and service is great! The atmosphere is both dressy and casual at the same time, making for a wonderful dining experience for both couples and families! We've been... More

If you don't live in Kailua, or Hawaii it is difficult to explain that space is crowded. This is a lunch or dinner spot on a busy intersection, but a nice place. Often enjoy birthdays with my friends here, or a dinner with my husband.

Our first visit was really good. We sat out on the patio in front after being seated on the back side where we could smell sewer gas. Things improved with our frozen Rita's made with fresh juice. My husband ordered the fish tacos Baja style (both times) and liked them each time except for asking them to hold the avocado... More

Just had dinner at Cactus with my wife. Lots of choices, including a decent wine list, with reasonable prices. Food was very good. Service was excellent.

Probably our favorite in Kailua while we visited for a whole month. Very kid friendly and very impressive, delicious food. We are spoiled by great restaurants living in Seattle's Capitol Hill neighborhood so it was tough to find something we really liked in Kailua but Cactus hit the spot. Don't let the strip mall setting fool you, it is worth... More

Was told this was a place where service and food would exceed everyone's expectations. Two in our party had to send their food back. My entree made no sense in terms of flavors--trying too hard, in my opinion. My husband's steak was half eaten because he couldn't get enough salt off of it.

The staff seemed snobby and it was unclear to me as why, because the food quality was poor, the portions for the price were small, the drinks from the bar were weak.

We really, really enjoyed our meal here. Even the kids loved it. We got there in time for HH and ordered some 1/2 price items as well as a main entree for the two adults. I went with the suggestions from the waiter and he was right on! We were so impressed with how nice the employees were and even... More
