Stopped in for dinner on a Monday evening around 6:30PM and they were pretty busy. There was no outdoor seating available and the bar was full but there were a few tables indoors that were not reserved and we chose one near the kitchen in...the back. Our server Cully brought us water and menus and asked if we wanted anything else to drink. We ordered two Mai tais. When he brought the drinks we asked what he recommended and he gave us a good list of options - the red curry grilled fish (ahi was the fish) , garlic shrimp, orange duck confit and the kimchee sandwich. We decided to order the Kailua pork fries and the red curry grilled ahi to share. The fries came out first and looked delicious. They were loaded with toppings - cheese, smoked Kailua pork, Brown gravy, green onions and red onions. They were a Hawaiian version of poutine and were delicious! I could easily have satisfied myself with a plate of the loaded fries. Soon afterwards our curry fish came out and also looked very good (exception for me being the pile of fresh cilantro on top… I have the cilantro aversion gene!). I pushed aside the top green papaya salad because of the cilantro pieces in it, and dug into the brown rice, ahi tuna and red curry sauce. My husband enjoyed the dish as a whole and I truly enjoyed what I ate. This was a great recommendation (like I said minus the cilantro… but I had enough to eat beside that). We were both stuffed when we left. Cully was an amazing server - gave great recommendations, was personable, kept our water glasses filled and made sure we had everything we needed. Total bill was under $60 for the two drinks, appetizer and shared ago curry entree and we were full. The atmosphere is comparable to a home style restaurant in the states (think Perkins or Embers), and is comfortable homey. Great option for dinner or lunch. The menu isn’t large but has a good variety of fish and Kaulua pork dishes… very local fare.More
