Stopped in for dinner on a Monday evening around 6:30PM and they were pretty busy. There was no outdoor seating available and the bar was full but there were a few tables indoors that were not reserved and we chose one near the kitchen in the back. Our server Cully brought us water and menus and asked if we wanted anything else to drink. We ordered two Mai tais. When he brought the drinks we asked what he recommended and he gave us a good list of options - the red curry grilled fish (ahi was the fish) , garlic shrimp, orange duck confit and the kimchee sandwich. We decided to order the Kailua pork fries and the red curry grilled ahi to share. The fries came out first and looked delicious. They were loaded with toppings - cheese, smoked Kailua pork, Brown gravy, green onions and red onions. They were a Hawaiian version of poutine and were delicious! I could easily have satisfied myself with a plate of the loaded fries. Soon afterwards our curry fish came out and also looked very good (exception for me being the pile of fresh cilantro on top… I have the cilantro aversion gene!). I pushed aside the top green papaya salad because of the cilantro pieces in it, and dug into the brown rice, ahi tuna and red curry sauce. My husband enjoyed the dish as a whole and I truly enjoyed what I ate. This was a great recommendation (like I said minus the cilantro… but I had enough to eat beside that). We were both stuffed when we left.
Cully was an amazing server - gave great recommendations, was personable, kept our water glasses filled and made sure we had everything we needed. Total bill was under $60 for the two drinks, appetizer and shared ago curry entree and we were full. The atmosphere is comparable to a home style restaurant in the states (think Perkins or Embers), and is comfortable homey. Great option for dinner or lunch. The menu isn’t large but has a good variety of fish and Kaulua pork dishes… very local fare.

Recommended on Diners Drive Inns and Dives we stopped in for a snack during happy hour and man are we glad we did. We ordered the garlic chicken and kahlua pork fries and both were to die for. Oh that gravy on the fries was everything! The portions were huge so we didn't need dinner after this. The drinks were amazing too and the staff was so friendly and attentive (we don't see much of that in Florida). We will definitely be back before our vacation is over. Be sure to try the Schofferhofer Hefeweizen Juicy Pineapple beer. You're welcome. 🍍🍺

Nice, upscale dining in Kailua town. Patio and inside dining. Parking in a pay public lot, or on the street. Good service. Two of us had poke bowls, and one had the red curry fish, which is very nicely presented. Two choices of poke, both were pretty good. The important thing is how the fish is cut in the kitchen. This was cut well with little or no tough membrane.

I ordered beef and tomato without even looking at the menu when I entered the restaurant, and the friendly waiter looked confused and said, "What is this?" "Grilled beef and tomato" was no longer on the menu. It was one of the things I enjoyed in Kailua even before they moved to their current location, so it was a shame. I didn't feel like ordering anything else, so I left the restaurant. I wonder if they changed owners??? I was able to eat it in 2019, but...

We were driving through Kailua at supper time on Saturday night and we decided to give the Uahi Island Grill a try. It looked like a friendly neighborhood eatery, popular with locals. Our server, Cully, was attentive and friendly and explained the menu well. We had the calamari appetizer, the Kalua pork local favorite and the salmon special: all tasty. I recommend it.

On our anniversary, wife and I ordered the Poke Trio, garlic shrimp and pesto fish. All 3 dishes were magnificent. Poke made with very delicate flavour. Garlic shrimp strong and delicious and well served. Pesto fish served with vegetables and pasta was delicate and delicious. Our server Anna went above and beyond to serve well and quick. Loved the place!

Stopped in for a late lunch and Uahi did not disappoint. Kalua pork and shoyu poke were mighty tasty. Staff had no problem preparing the kalua pork without sautéed kale - a very nice touch. I enjoyed the kimchi as well. I look forward to returning.

We had dinner here during our recent stay in Kailua. We had the furikake calamari, machiko garlic chicken, and kalua pork and kale. All very good. Great service. We ate outside and it was a nice space to have dinner.

When they serve Mai Tai's and have served Guy then you know it's gonna be good! While we were in the area on vacation my wife and I do what we normally do when looking at a restaurant and that is try to find a place that isn't a tourist trap and is off the beaten path so we took to reviews. When we read the buzz around the fact that this was showcased on DDD's then we had to give it a try.
We opted for outdoor seating because, why not. It was a beautiful day and we were anxious to enjoy the weather. There were several very hungry and brazen birds in the patio area that would swoop in, landing on the table or plate to grab food and fly off. I was waiting for one to just pull up a chair and take my whole plate. It wasn't bad but more comical than anything.
We were quickly greeted and orders for drinks were taken. The Mai Tai's hit the spot and were good enough to order a second. For my main I went with the showcased dish of red curry fish. I can say I can clearly see why this dish was showcased. It was absolutely delicious! I just wanted to order more of the curry sauce and keep eating that it was so good. My wife ordered the orange duck confit which was the other dish featured on DDD's. This had a little more of a unique taste as the glaze or sauce was not only and orange sauce but it was made with anise. A very distinctive flavor that really complimented the dish well, not overpowering which anise can easily be.
Overall, great place with a great seating area and great staff. Glad we chose Uahi Island Grill.

No matter the meal or time of day, you can't beat this place. I especially love the happy hour with their amazing $5 mai-tais, but I also love pretty much the entire menu. The servers are awesome and the drinks are all fantastic. Their poke trio is always fresh and amazing and their garlic chicken is delicious.

This restaurant in general has to be my number one from all of the places I have eaten at in Oahu! The food was amazing, the poke especially was really well flavored, and prepared!! The Kalamari as well is an amazing appetizer. There are so many choices for entrees from all sorts of food for any person, I got the curry red fish that tasted wonders. Our whole family was pleased with this lunch that we came here a second time and we were not disappointed. The happy our has some great deals and the staff is so very kind!

Got here just in time for HH. They offer some delicious appetizers and I had the poké trio, fried garlic chicken & sautéed mushrooms. Some of the best poké I’ve had anywhere! Chicken was very flavorful and I loved how the mushrooms were prepared. This was enough for for at least 2-3 people. Definitely a new place to eat whenever I go to Lanikai Beach.

White wine was $4 and it was not bad. However, the red wine on happy hour is a recommended pass. Calamari appetizer is very fried, not greasy, just can't taste the calamari at all. Friendly staff.

My husband and I stopped for lunch after a wine tasting at Oeno Winery. I had the duck confit sandwich with green papaya salad. I am not a fan of too spicy so I had the Siracusa sauce on the side but would up pouring it all over my sandwich because it was so good and more sweet and spicy that just heat. My husband had the garlic chicken salad and both were equally ono (delicious). I was too full for dessert but took a slice of lilikoi cheesecake home and that made for a delicious dinner.

Sometimes you go somewhere, it's great, and you return expecting the same great experience. But you don't get it. That didn't happen here! The food is consistently delicious and the bartender makes some fantastic drinks. Whether you come for lunch, happy hour (just about the only one in Kailua these days), dinner, or Sunday brunch, your food is going to be great. It's hard to name favorites, but the Korean steak sandwich with salad is the best lunch in town. Their garlic chicken is delicious, as is their kalua pork. A lot of restaurants sell at a huge profit after they get a great review from Dinners, Drive-ins, and Dives, but Uahi Island Grill has the same owner, same staff, and same fantastic food!
